Well the first beta of Cortex 2 is out.

Cortex 2 - (Pc Win)

Well I spend more time on my upcomming synth than on Cortex. Anyway it would be nice if somebody checks if it runs stable.

o.k. - seems to work good so far...

here are a few first impressions:

- tweaking has become even more complex than before

- the drive-, harmonics- and sound-sliders are much slower than those of the other parameters. Also they produce zipper-noise.

- I don't get how the cabinet mixing works. Whatever the settings are - it seems all four speakers are always on.

- the sound seems to have changed very much. I think it offers some great sounds that Cortey 1 couldn't provide but I'm also missing something (epecially the 'blues'-mode...)

All in all: fantastic work again - thank you very much!!!

Yes, sorry, but as soon as the GUI is done it will become a lot easier.

They are slower, because some pretty heavy computation is done everytime you change them. I have to think about how to get rid of that.

Well as said in the "documentation" both clean channels have to be worked on a lot and the lead channels are still almoast identical. Lead A will be replaced by an more creamy cruch-channel.

Tested this with all of the variations I could find in half an hour

. Very very lovely. I didn't even find the clean channels very weak as stated in the beta-manual. Harmonics is a nice feature... As Jens stated, the sound is superb, and you just want to play more guitar... Crazyator is crazy and with loads of possibilities to shape the sound. Don't remember if that was there in C1?
Very nice work. Jens mentioned the few clicks and plonks while changing settings, and otherwise simply stunning. Looking forward to the things you'd like to change. If I had time right now I'd start making presets for me this second.

könntest es natürlich SPEX2 nennen. Okay, we had this obviously ridiculous remark in the past

- this is what I thought at first how it would work like, but the zipper-noise of the speaker-sliders lured me into believing that they were still active

Well after playing a little with this beta, I'd say:
- I like the X-Y way of mixing the cabinets, though I feel (can't explain why, you know better helium) that v0.7 which was ONE plugin somehow sounded more cohesive.... (perhaps it's just my imagination)
- The harmonics, sound and EC sliders seem to add some interesting elements to the sound, though you need some time to tune them...
- The Drive introduces HUGE amounts of noise, especially with high gain...
- There is an obvious loudness difference between the clean and lead preamps...

Anyway I'm really glad you are still working on this, I love Cortex and thank you!

Currently I find easier to get instant satisfaction with v0.7 (not even v1!) in HeavyAmp setting...
Further comments when I have time to check it out in more detail...

Just tested the new Cortex2.

I tested only CleanB ch. I compared it with my old Cortex_0_13 setting and I can say the sound is better. Now it sounds more tube like.
