The two versions are pretty much identical internally anyway, so the extra inputs must be the problem..

Did he ever actually explain how to restore dynamics with an EQ..?

I think someone else has a go, but failed to take into account that EQ is a static filter.

If EQ stood for ExpanderQ (where the Q is silent), then I would have some sympathy with him..
