in essence the DirectWave sampler can technically be used like a freeze function for VST's, this will prove very useful for my production collabiration.

Does the DirectWave sampler use the same VST host engine as flstudio itself or did arguru create his own vst wrapper?

The reason i ask this is because i am wondering if this will solve the problem of atmosphere/trilogy having timing issues in flstudio.

Hopefully natively flstudio will work better in the future with these plugins...

as i can't see the tutorial videos: is the sampling thing something like highlife from discodsp? http://www.discodsp.com/highlife/

You can only see the demo if you are registered? How does that sell anything?

While reading the thread i didn't think this autosample from vsti's could be really that useful, but after seeing the clips i'm a believer, and it also looks like something quite new for a change, i remember the why no virtual sampler can sample? threads.

Although, for my personal way of working i'm more excited with the new mixer and that eq to different strips, that's awesome, it's like multiband whatever, could prove very useful when making beats and loops.

As for the release date, didn't they use to say before the end of the year? Now i really have something to look forward to after i format my daw (have to, but i keep putting it back because i don't want to reinstall everything)

Someone asked about DW being included in the upgrade - it was said in the "instruments" forum that DirectWave would be a demo in FL. I asked for a possible price but didn't get an official answer :/

arguru wrote:Sure, DW creates 32-bit float WAV file(s) with bundled MIDI information and a propietary small program file when saving programs. So it's straight to use and map them in other sampler.
Would you ever consider adding sf2-export function? Multi-samples are great, but not as "portable".

soma - there trying to aggrivate non users to beg hackers and reverse engineers to crack the thing wide open so you can make your decision then. You see the logic?? Man, a video is not going to deter or encourage warez use of FL. Its just an arrogent way of saying ,"we are Imageline we have a name to uphold" (with there noses in the air)... And any paying FL user knows that the initial distro's are ALAWYS buggy anyhow. Common just release the dayum video, whos with me (crickets start cherpin)?

twister - I use to love the conveinance of 1 soundfont file but I noticed that the quality wasnt as good as a wav file.. just create a folder to save the files to and name it as the intsrument.. I got use to it and found that there is more fuctionality when working with wav's over .sf2's ...

The tutorials & previews are there for our registered/paying users.

It's one of the few things (together with the support, samples at SampleFusion, ...) that we try to offer to our paying users.

We can only hope it motivates some warez users to buy our software.

Judging from the 100.000s of hits from warez versions each year we sure don't need to convince them to *use* the software.

See ya,

How can ppl think that a preview and a demo is the same thing? I think this preview thing for us regged users is a great idea.

In theory, you are right. But in practice, I love how FLS "exports as zipped loop package" saves your project file with all the external sound samples into one zip file. Than, even a year later, if my clients ask me to change the remix or to update the production, I just have to look for the archive with 1 zip file to open it up for my own total recall. Plus, if I can sample my VSTi into SF2, it will be one less thing to worry about in a future.

JMC- I understand the Carrot and the Stick routine: offer someone something extra if they buy. However I suspect that by hiding the video you are only perking peoples interest enough to try out a cracked version to see for themselves, instead of convincing people that the features are so great that they want to rush to the store and buy it.

I'm not selling software however so I assume you know what you are doing more than I do. I must say though, as a potential customer, I am a bit annoyed that I can't view the videos (and annoying potential customers doesn't sound like a smart business to me).

soma, DW will be availabe with FLS6 to all (even us, the paid users) which is NOT released yet. When its going to be released, you will be able to download a demo of FLS and try it out all together. IMHO, a brilliant marketing tecnique to get you on hook for a host when you try out one of its generators :)
