Christ, I've had this here iPod for less than a year, and it's already bricking out on me. I'm going to have to send it in (and pay for the shipping too) to get its HD fixed. God damn Apple and their overpriced music players that always fuсking break. :x

PS, I got mine from a contest entry, I regret not selling it the second that I got it.

I've owned 3 ipods and never had a problem with any of them. When you have that many products produced people are going to end up with a defective one now and again. That's why they have the manufacturer's warranty covering defects.

I'm sorry you got stuck with a dud though. That blows.

Sorry to hear that - I love me iPod...

Is it f**ked completely? Have you done the usual reset, format and try again things???

Sorry again -

imo we simply havent developed a portable hard drive unit that can be shaken up yet. If you jog with your ipod (or any HD MP3 Player) or keep it in a back pack that gets thrown around, it will crock-out in a few months, no matter the maker.

However if you're careful with it and buy a case for it and are always gentle, it will last you years.

I've had a creative nomad (the huge, discman looking one), and Ipod and a creative zen in that order. The first 2 are pretty much useless now.

Pfft... Good luck to the Ipod generation. I'm sticking with my minidisc until holograms are available.

i dont even know why the minidisc was invented.

best bet is a cd player that can play mp3's on CD-RW's

I bought the first player I saw that supported OGGS (IRiver).

I've never bought a harddrive unit like an ipod, I knew from day one that I would break it quick. I've been very happy with the various ram based mp3 units I've bought (about 4 of them). 1 gig is enough for me. I've dropped them many times and havn't had any problems, I've heard that the ramdrive can actually take a bullet and still be mostly functional.

Here's my latest one... http://www.walmart.com/search/browse-ng ... 51%3A96469 (I've bought more than one mp3 player over the years, because i've broken buttons and display's, the drive has always worked though. I jog, ride my bike, lift weights, take a bath, lay in bed, mow the lawn, clean the house, drive my car, while using my mp3 players.)

i have an iRiver. when the hard drive failed, they fixed it for free within a week.

nice unit, too. has a 20 GB hd and a radio.

i would never buy from a company that tries to lock you into proprietary formats.

wait 'til an iPod killer comes along and people want to move their music over... :bang: :x

I have an iAUDIO CW300. One of the best pieces of electronics I have ever purchased (other than my aging LG Flatron 915FT monitor). Made by Cowon, who developed JetAudio - with the worst interface but best sounding MP3 decoder ever!!
