Just started a new track, soon as i put an insert affect on i get feedback. This only usually happens when i use too many effects or turn the gain up too much on em which is bad enough but f**k i can't make a track like this...Anyone got any ideas?
Also i have an emajic audiowerk 8 sound card that stopped working a couple of months ago, it just stopped showing up so im using my stock souund card i've tried re installing it, replugging it in, nothing - any more ideas?

hmmm what version of qbase is it?? what kind of effects are you using on the inserts?? what kind of feedback (like when you loopback audio to a delay kind) or (electric guitar kill your monitor kind) is it delayed feedback that sounds like your audio is looping and gets louder and louder or is it one big azz distortion sound that gets louder and louder.. are you using the same effects on your inserts (try different ones).. If it's not a driver hardware problem there is a audio loopback somwhere in your chain... I would try turning up your gain with NO effects then keep adding until you get the problem that should tell you where the problem is arising.. Hmm also what is the speed of your comp and ram capacity, cause sometimes with sx if your system does not meet the requirments your sound can "hang" creating long stuttering feeback like sounds when your reach your ram's capacity or your cpu gets overloaded...
I gotta ask, is the computer hosting qbase the same one with the sound card not showing up problem (COULD BE DRIVERS, OR YOUR PHSYICALL COMPUTER ((PCI SLOTS, MESSED UP PINS STATIK SHOCK WHEN INSTALLING ETC??))).. Not too faimilliar with emajic audowerk 8.. what kind of card is it?? card to external box? internal card ? firewire?
need to be more specific...

the distortion kind of feedback and it happens as soon as i put on any insert. Its not the ram thing because i do get that sometimes and this is different. Yeah it's the same computer, i managed to get the audiowerk showing up in the dock (it plugs straight into a pci so whatever one that is) but now it wont show up in the sound and audio control panel on the volume tab, it just says no audio device even though windows reckons the device is working propperly...any ideas?

Hrrrm so it just happens when you turn on your inserts? or when a plug is in them?? I can only think that its your audio chain.. (not too sure but) if you have an channel going out to a channel that is going back into qbase at some point.. if all fails then try a fresh install or better yet contact steinberg yo...

Well, I had an Audiowerk II in the past and it never worked flawlessly on Win XP Pro. Was just ok on Mac OS9. Problems (in ASIO mode) with Audiowerk cards and XP are known and most people owning one gave up since Emagic never did anything to enhance their buggy 2K drivers. This card is probably only ok if you're using Logic actually...
What built-in audio are you using? (what's your motherboard?)
Try a generic ASIO driver if you can (ex.: ASIO4ALL), it should help.
