why is your host better than tracktion?

i've been using tracktion for a while. i've found it to be very flexible. why would i want to switch hosts?

Post

the only reason i can think that you would switch hosts is if you found something that you like better. i think that's usually why people switch. i mean, people don't tend to switch because they like something else worse, do they?

so maybe you meant to ask, "what features do other hosts have that i might like more than the features tracktion has?" in which case, we'd really have to know what kind of features you like in a host. what is your ideal host?

i'm 5'11, 210 lbs, blue eyes, blond hair, muscular build, and i'm looking for a host i can cuddle up with in front of a fire and make sweet music with all night.

sorry if this is a smart-ass response. i'm just trying to be honest and point out that if you like your host, stick with it. if there are some things you don't like, look around. but don't get all excited if someone says "tracktion doesn't support latency compensation on the reverse-inverted-combobulation p5000 plug-in by wham-o" if you're never gonna use that plug-in (which is a great one, i must say).

this message has gone on way too long because i have nothing to do right now.

Ohhhh Yeahhhh. I love my hardware and software equally for completely different reasons. Nothing like pulling a nice analog synth into bed with you to program while chilling out with a Red Dwarf DVD.

Ugh, Red Dwarf. I think I'm just too American to get that show. Well, a lot of British "comedy" for that matter.

umm... mabye... ? i don't know what that is.

honestly, i recently just spent some time with a friend's sonar 5 setup. i used to use sonar 4, so i was curious to see if it had changed enough to make me think about switching. it hasn't. of course there are things that sonar/cubase/etc. can do that tracktion can't (or that aren't easy to do in tracktion), but those things aren't important to me. so honestly, i can't think of any reasons why i would want to switch. but without knowing what you like in a host, no one has any way of knowing if there are reasons why you'd want to switch!

dude, you are so behind the times. you don't even need a hardware dvd player anymore. you can watch a dvd on the computer while programming a software synth. and if you're tired of that hardware girlfriend or wife you have complaining that you're keeping her up with your programming, you can even get her in software form and just turn her off!

yes...and they are?

British humour tends to be bit more subtle, and also plays on stereotypes that american's don't get-
try watching some israeli humour at some point - I doubt you'd get that either.

You wouldn't want to switch. Now, if you were choosing a host to begin with, why would you choose Tracktion?

Post

Anyway, from what I understand there is a massive feature divide between sequencers like PT, Cubase, Logic and Sonar and other ones like Tracktion, Live and EnergyXT. I've never worked with any of the big ones extensively, but I know they have tons of utility features the more streamlined ones don't.

Oh, you mean like Faulty Towers? About as subtle as a flying mallet!
