Wacom Controller 2 MIDI idea - VST wanted

As I'm coming from a visual background and I have
a Wacom tablet (and no keyboard or midi controller),
is there a way to translate position and pressure
into MIDI information?

A VST MIDI generator quite similar to the 2D
Controller in Live would be great (in my opinion).
But because of the pressure sensitivity of the
tablet it only needs to be 1D, one field for the
note/pitch and the pressure for volume/intensity
... or maybe use the second dimension for another
parameter ... would be great to tweak parameters
and create atmospheric melodic constructs in
onnection with synths, almost Theremin like...

Any comments from musicians or developers on this?
