nope - it's just that they're polished! ;-) :hihi:

Ugh, polished strings... ah well, each to his own.
I use flatwounds occasionally on my semi acoustic, but I hate the feel.

only my very heavy gauge (13-56) strings are polished - on my other two electrics and on my acoustic they're not, however on my fretless bass they're as well... (while on my other bass-guitars they're not) :)

(can you tell that I love variation & flexibility? :-D)

I mean if I had polished strings I'd be scared to touch my axe lest I loose the shine :P

I recommend to clean strings (if they're polished or unpolished doesn't really matter) after each use... :P

(b.t.w.: they tend to last much longer than normal strings because they're far less damaged by the frets... ;-))

the fret-damage I mentioned causes much more tuning problems than dirt...

not sure I get that jens, strings are harder or equal to frets, both are nickel...and I believe it's the frets that wear out more. Strings develop weak points eventually, but i'ts not as much from wear as it is from stretching and bending...in fact technically strings dont stretch that much. They have little elasticity, when they do stretch it causes the string to get thinner at one point, which because of the constant tension usually causes the string to snap quickly....;)

btw I think every guitarist should have a set of fret files...:)

My strings never wear out as I break them before.
Real strong picking for real strong men!
