Just wondering if there's anyone else, I've loved those guys for over 30 years...one of the original glam rock rock bands...but it wasn't until about five years ago I found out that there was two versions of desolation blvd. I was shocked when I got the import of the cd and songs were different or not there....in the other room I had the vinyl version of what I knew to be the albbum...I also learned that their original song writing team (before they decide to write their own stuff) went on to be Pat Benetars song writers...but Really for a while sweet rocked...

Yeah, I was a big fan of Sweet growing up. Still have Desolation Blvd. and Give us a Wink on cd. I think Chapman/Chinn were the initial writers.

I always thought the guitar player in the band had a great sound. I still see a lot of their stuff around the stores on imports.

Aaaaah...Fox on the Run - that brings back happy memories.

One day, the flamboyance that those days had will return - when music was real entertainment. Sweet always seemed more like a real band than Mud, don't you think?

That was also the first hit they wrote themsleves. I also have to admit to owning Desolation Boulevade a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. One of my mates recently bought their greatest hits [or Great Big Tits] CD and I cringed all the way through it. The Rezillos did a much better version of Ballroom Blitz on their live album Mission Accomplished: But the Beat Goes On

Well, I wouldn't call myself a fan. More into Led Zeppelin, Nazareth, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep etc and progressive rock of course when Sweet were around - so I guess I saw them as kind of lightweight. This said I do have a couple of their albums somewhere (Strung up I recall) - and I remember thinking 'Blockbuster' was a great song.

We had kind of a Sweet camp and a Slade camp around my neighbourhood at the time, and I always felt more at home with the Sladers. Sorry...

there is two versions of fox on the run...both quite different...that was a shocker too me...

Like beltrom I was into Led Zeppelin, Nazareth, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and the like. Sweet, Slade and (wait for it).... Suzi Quartro!!! were good glam rock alternatives before Smokie, Van Halen and Bay City Rollers came along with better hair do's.

I had the vinyl. Never bothered to get the Sweet CDs. Now that you mention it, I will be looking out for it at the discount counter when I get to the stores.

Oh you, now my old mind is starting to remember those good things. Remember BTO?

"Greatest Hits Remixed / the Glam - Goth - Techno Mixes" released in '99 on the ever-great CLEOPATRA label. "Action" remixed by Pigface! "Burn on the flame" remixed by Sheep On Drugs. Die Krupps, Electric Hellfire Club, Alien Sex Fiend? Very strange indeed. Really, they sound better this way, and it takes the edge off of the horrible high school flashbacks

they were funny as shit...i have a video comp of various glitter bands that came from, i assume, british tv performances...sweet, gary glitter, trex, alice cooper, and wizard are on it, no slade...sweet does "blockbuster" which i hadn't heard before and is an amazingly corny tune, one of the dudes was sporting a hitler stash and i think swastika arm bands....

i have to admit i really dig gary glitter, and his tunes on the vid are great (the first dumb band i was in used to play "rock n' roll pt. 1 & 2" well before the sports craze with pt. 2 in the us, and the other dumb band i was in played "hello i'm back again" once,one of my favorite memories playing live)...the whole vid's great, really...

From what I remember, it's been all about Slade vs. Sweet back then.
I would've been that Slade sorta dude whereas the Sweet had the better pop songs.

But then, you just can't beat Dave Hills haircut.

He looked a tw#t, but not as big a tw#t as I looked when I tried to straighten my fringe when I was at school. It got shorter and shorter, I ended up looking like him (hairstyle wise anyway)

I was a massive Slade fan (from the Ambrose Slade day's) and no one believed I hadn't done it as a 'tribute' to him
