i am a newbie to all this and to internet and i was wondering how i could get a free noise gate.
any suggestions?

GVst has one that I like for vocals,it's really simple,too:

...also get the freebie from Klanglabs. It can be MIDI controlled and cuts audio very cleanly. dfx from Smart Electronix also has a nice MIDI controlled gate.
