I think this is hands-down the best sounding amp sim/guitar fx sim around. I just want them to give me a copy for free. Is that so wrong?
It's better to burn out...than it is to um..to um...well, something, anyway...

:o you mean that AT2 is going to simulate the heat of tubes? How long do you have to wait to heat AT2 :P
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Actually, I've tried a lot of them, and I have a friend who uses AT1, so after using it (on his pc, though, so maybe i'm not the best judge) i'll still take Guitar Rig. At least from the demos. I know they've been sort of dissed because of latency issues and being a CPU hog, but with that kind of tone they'll get no complaint from me. Really. And I'm a guitar player - and an FX nut.

see that's just it though init? cpu hog and high latency...for what? Is the sound really gonna be that much better then a POD, Vamp or the like? I mean really it's just so strange imo that we want vintage sound from state of the art, hi-tech software..seems too me you give up too much to only sound too sterile...

Good point, Hink. I guess my point is this: I've found very few plug-ins that measure up to my outboard effects - except this one, so I'd be willing to put up with the latency and the occasional crash if I got a good recording. While it's true that I'd probably find it annoying, I think the end results would outweigh the annoyance factor. Maybe not though, and I'm not about to give up on my stomp boxes yet.

But I'd sure like to try it, assuming some nice company rep ran across this page and decided to take pity on a poor home musician.....

I think the real impetus here is the freedom of being able to drag, drop and edit amps, effects, microphones all in realtime with a cool GUI. I am still a fan of POD (et al) over software sims, but I do have to mention that Guitar Rig and even Amplitube 1 sound much different (read: better) through the more professional-level setup at my work than at my multimedia desk, or at home. So I/O can have a lot to do with the "wow" factor.

You know it's kind of funny, but my computer already simulates the heat of tubes. I close the door and weit an hour or so and it gets pretty hot in there. And I don't have Amplitube2 or Guitar Rig 1 or 2. But occasionally I use Niger, PoCo guitar plug (forgot the name - Tubeflex or something). But the simulation of the tube warmth is on all the time !!!
