Probably not.

The usual one is for DJs is
a) not to realize that having the level meter on the mixer all the way up all the time is not a good thing (and that the red LEDs at the top are red for a reason) and then
b) complain about the 'shit system' making the records sound like they're clipping.

I know, I've heard of it before, and I'm sure a lot of DJ's pull this shit. I used to think the same thing about them too.

The thing is, I'm a DJ, and once you get good, you really are tweaking knobs, adjusting sliders, etc ALL the time. The mixers I use have either a 4 band eq or a 3 band eq with the mid freq sweepable (very rare in DJ mixers). Both have built in effects. Trust me, when I'm back there twiddling knobs, I'm doing it for a purpose and very often I'll be getting the eq right on the track that I'll be mixing in (which you won't hear so it looks like I'm doing nothing). I don't, and most good DJ's don't have time to stand around doing nothing, but I'll admit, I'll dance like a squirrel from time to time when everything's in order

Are you talking about professional DJ's or amateurs? The only time I saw this happen in recent years was at my local bar. The DJ was terrible and had no idea it was clipping and only coming out of one channel (and that his taste in music was abysmal). He was def. one of those who was tweaking knobs without any idea what he was doing. We had to tell him to fix the problems, at which he tried to start a fight with us three, the bar manager and the bouncers (all good friends of mine). He called the bar a few days later trying to sue us for assault. Later heard a story about the same guy, after a bad set at a bar and being told to stop, he MACED the place and jammed the bar door shut!

This was mainly DJs in the low end professional to high end amateur bracket. The bigger professionals were mostly (but not always) better.

The other noticeable thing was that the more serious professionals were much less arsey to the techs, having spotted that if you want good sound, pissing off the people in charge of the system is not a good way to start...

None the less, it's agood feeling to know that you're stuff is liked enough to get put into sets. I have a bunch of DJ friends that like to throw my songs into a mix. The weird thing about that is that I know a lot of house DJ's (not my style at all, I do downbeat and hip-hop) but they find a way to throw it in there.

I'm playing my first live show in three years in a couple of weeks and I'm looking forward to watching the ladies work it to my stuff.

God I hate the kids who think that because they've got a DJ gig they can treat others like shit. I've met a lot of Chicago's top house DJ's, and they really were genuinely nice guys (and gals) as well as treating everyone around them in a professional manner.

if someone can tell me how i can convert a 300mb avi file into a smaller format, and then cut out the few seconds where u can see the girls dancing, and then teach me how and where to upload it, i will happily do it. Or you can just trust me on this and believe me im not making things up. I think its something everyone should experience for themselves. but really it not such a hard thing to pull off. Basically make sure that your song sounds just like the stuff being played on the night.. u know so it 'fits', then if the party is underway, most ppl will be at least almost drunk, which means girls are at their peak for dancing and good mood. Now, make sure your song has a solid, danceable groove, and it will go off, and girls will love it. And no i didnt walk up to the girls afterwards, i have a girlfriend at the moment, and i would have thought that walking up to them and saying something like that would have come accross as a sleazy pickup line. Although in my head i obviously envisioned it differently
