Hey folks,

I used to know how to do this in Cubase VST5 but I can't figure out how to do it now in Cubase SX 3.

Can someone explain how to make it so that when I press a note on my MIDI keyboard, it plays a note in a VSTi at the maximum velocity, please?

I would really appreciate a thorough explanation. Not an explanation of what velocity is or how it works, but how to make it so that every key I press, no matter how softly comes through at the max velocity.

Yes, I'm sure that I don't have that setting on my keyboard. Yes, I want to do this in Cubase. Yes, I'm absolutely sure that I want to have maximum velocity.

Thank you!

Alright, I think I figured it out. Don't use the logical editor. If you're in the same situation as me, what you want is the "input transformer". It's not under any menu I can find. Look it up in the help files and they will show you where it is.

Select "Global" when you find the button.
Under Filter Target set it to "Type Is" then "Equal" then "Note"

Under Action Target set it to "Value 2" the "Set to fixed value" then "127".

If you have Module 1 selected then make sure it's active. Save the preset.

On that track, all inputted notes will have maximum velocity. You will have to turn it on the same way for all of your other tracks. The setting will still be there, you just have to enable it for all the other tracks.

If anyone knows of a better way, please share.

I guess you answered your own question.

That'd be the way I'd do it. Either that or simply play everything very hard all the time :hihi:

It seems digitalstruggle took 5 hours between his question and your his solution. However ... it often happens you suddenly solve a problem the moment you try and explain it to someone else. :D A proven strategie to switch to the needed different mind-set when you got stuck.
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.
