Why are Compaq cases so hard to open!?

Okay, so my old PC died today. Lucky for me we had another PC that wasn't being used. This PC I'm on right now only has 256 MB of RAM (
), so I need to take the RAM out of my old PC (1 gig) and throw it in this PC, but I can't get the fricking case open! My old Compaq case opened by removing a screw and then pressing down this little lever that let you slide the side panel off, but this one has no lever, just a screw... but I still can't get it off. Am I missing something? Anyone have experience with new Compaq PC's that can help me?

Unscrew the screw and slide the panel rearward (there is a little handhold above the screw).
Kind of like a battery compartment on an old cell phone.
Of course, they change them hourly, so this might be out of date.

make sure that the RAM is compatible (same types and speeds and whatnot before you throw it in there).
Compaq cases SUUUUUUUUUCK! Especially the old ones that you have slide the outer shell off. Just a stupid, stupid idea. But leave it up to HP/Compaq to build something stupid and they'll exceed your wildest expectations.

Yeah, I checked. My RAM's all nice and set and reads ".99 GB."butter wrote:make sure that the RAM is compatible (same types and speeds and whatnot before you throw it in there).

And yeah, Compaq cases are the WORST! Such a horrible design, man.

Yes, I too hated the stupid tabs on the side, then slide it forward on the old desktops. But my Presario sitting here is one thumb screw and the side cover comes off in a few seconds. Wish more of my cases were like this actually.
