Similar to my MB post from last week, this is for the three folks who care:
Daniel Menche was live on WFMU two weeks ago, available for a listen here. I had forgotten to check it out the day of, and just remembered about it tonight. So for anyone interested for things noisy and drony, worth having a listen. It's all mixed in to a pretty cool set, including a bit from the new SUNN O))) (mine should be arriving any day now, not quite sure what's taking so long since I ordered over 2 weeks ago. Hmm, maybe I should send them an email about that).
Happy listening.

ooh. Excellent. They don't list a label affiliation, but he has stuff on the same label I am on: www.blrrecords.com. It's a good resource for this sort of thing.

See, that makes three of us.
It's a pretty cool live set, too. Heavy on the percussive and screaming sounds. And without it, I would never have known it was pronounced men-chee, rather than either the French Menche or the anglicized version that sounds like mensch that I had always assumed.

Just heard it, excellent performance. Live is definitely the way to hear (and see - last time I saw him I was sure he was going to pop a dozen arteries, pretty intense) Menche - his recent studio recordings have been lacking.

I think the Alien8 discs have been excellent. Different from Screaming Caress or Field of Skin, or earlier stuff, but still excellent.
But then, you knew I was going to say that.

Only disc of his since 'Field of Skin' that seemed to have the same spark was 'Invoker' (on the Antifrost label). My all-time faves remain 'Static Burn' and especially 'Legions in the Walls' (which is live recordings).

I've been a WFMU fan for a while now, but this Airborn Event with Dan Bodah is fairly new to me. Really excellent show, listening now to the following week.
Just noticed that the mp3 stream for the Oct. 16 show is gone as of today, and only realaudio remains, which is a shame.
