I searched this forum and did not find any free nord lead samples on the internet. if you know of any, please do provide the link. i am interested in those Lil Jon type sounds. I am working on a few "crunk" type songs and could use those real piercing lead sounds. thanks in advance.

You can do the Lil Jon type sounds without any Nord lead samples..
You can try Synth1 (which is often refered to as a nord lead emulation):

Or just any simple subtractive synth you can find with a sawtooth, pulse and sine oscillators will do the trick :)

so how would i construct a "Lil Jon" patch? Do I need a 3 oscilator synth? For example, If I wanted to do the lead synth line for "Yeah"..... how can i learn how to program a patch like that? I am a preset browser more than a sound designer. thanks very much for your help. Happy Halloween

Just search for a preset in that synth called supersaw or something like that, use the HP12 filter, set the freq to 10% and you should have the Yeah-synth

I have the "lil john lead" from the nord in sf2 format. I don't use it for obvious reasons... Hell of a low end though. It's nice and clean, and in your face.

Check the patches for Synth1 at Patcharena: there are some good ones there!

Here is a sound clip of the Nord Lead patch I have. As you can hear, it is almost exact to the patch Lil john uses in most (ummm, all) of his beats. Anyways, threw Kajaerhus' classic reverb on and put it on the preset "big and bright" Voila, instant crunk!

(Used the melody he did for one of usher's songs, and damn is that the most easiest, most lamest melody).

Ah no. Not Crunk. No, no, no....

Underground RULES!

Sorry, I just hear too much crunk in Seattle. That's disturbing cause this town has a great indie/backpacker scene.

I'm afraid the epidemic has spread across the nation to almost every hip hop producer. It's funny, not too long ago somebody critized me for using a guitar in a hip hop instrumental, it seems that some are to retarted to actually realize that it isn't just a rock/country instrument.. It frustrates me to see the direction it's all going in, but oh well...

'wizoo powered nord' - don't know if it's still available - if so, might be very cheap...

where can i get that lil jon lead SF2??? And you are right about Crunk. I was working on a track in the Bronx the other day... and this real hood MC (Diplomats type of guy) asks me if I can throw one of those "Lil Jon leads" on the track... so then i decided that the lo-fi beats that i put together, could use some of the contrast of the digital/cutting nord lead sounds. Like i said before.. i used to own a Nord 2 Rack and sold it... at that time i was making real lo-fi (12bit) sounding beats and had no use for the Nord sound... anyway.. where can i get that soundfont? was it sold in a collection? thanks much.
