it is necessary for a project of any size really. In these 2 forms you only confirm that you're the copyright owner to the work you submitted, that you allow this project to put your track on CD, the pressing plant to replicate the CDs with your track on it, and CDBaby to distribute the CD with your track on it.
You give out your signature in every diner when you pay with creditcard, at every gas station, when renting a movie, when taking delivery of a parcel etc.
These 2 forms are just part of what's required for doing this project properly. With all the time, money and effort invested into this, we owe that to everyone involved and everyone who preordered.
