Sonar 4 problems with multiple envelope automation!!!

EDIT number 2, it is a sonar problem after all....
Right. Lets try again!
I'm trying to send two different envelopes to 2 parameters on the same effect plug in the effects bin on a track.
The effects are only responding erratically to 1 envelope, with the second envelope only changing at nodes. This wasn't happening with earlier versions, I've updated recently to 4.0.3
Anyone else experience this?
<edit #23423> I've jsut spotted an 4.04 update, going to install that and see if its fixed....

OK the 4.04 update doesn't solve this.
i simply can't use more than one envelope per effect. This ruins the majority of my projects.
Help!

I'd suspect your best bet is to check the Sonar boards over at Cakewalk's forum. This may be a known problem, or there may be an easy (even if not immediately intuitive) solution.Hunter wrote:OK the 4.04 update doesn't solve this.

I've done a search there and posted another query there too.dougsyo wrote:I'd suspect your best bet is to check the Sonar boards over at Cakewalk's forum. Well there do seem to be some similair threads there but with no useful answers/ignored.
Can any Sonar 4 user here at KvR successfully apply a track envelope to an effect with the 4.03 or 4.04 update installed? Does no one else do it? Is it just me?
Even one envelope seems to not work now. Pile of crap.

Does your problem apply to just one particular plug-in...or is it replicated with others?

Any plug in.. it seems really erratic though, sometimes it only occurs if you are trying to automate 2 plugin paramters with 2 envel;opes, but this morning I had another fiddle and I couldn't get any any track envelopes to do anything at all...oddbods finger wrote:Does your problem apply to just one particular plug-in...or is it replicated with others?

This is getting worse and worse. I've just removed LoopBE as I was beginning to wonder if that had screwed something up, as apart from the Sonar update that's all I've installed.
I re-ran the vst wrapper, and now all my existing effects have a VST prefix, and they can not have envelopes applied to them at all - they just don't come up in the Envelope> options bit
No_idea_what is going on now...
but it seems from the Sonar forum that there are a lot of track envelope problems with 4 and 5. People have been revrting to 4.02 by the looks of it...

Do a full reset, then rescan of the adaptor with the 'append VST to plugin name' option UN-checked.
Im just about to check for you. But Ive not seen problems with this before.

Hmm yeah will have to do this. Maybe I did accidentally check the VST name bit, but the only other time the VST prefix has come up is when a plugin that was used in an existing tune is no longer in my folder, and can't be found. Also its just damn weird that all possibility of adding an envelope has been taken away.whyterabbyt wrote:Do a full reset, then rescan of the adaptor with the 'append VST to plugin name' option UN-checked.

Also just noticed that in very old tunes, pre 4.02 update even, automation is still working, even in v4.04, but any autmation implemented during use of 4.03 and 4.04 will not work.

Hmmm, I see what you mean. Any subsequent automation curve on an effect after the first one behaves like all its curve shapes are 'Jump'. Across multiple efffects only the first of each is unaffected...

it's a disaster really, but as far as I can see it's only on ones made since v4.03 and beyond, I can still play stuff made in 4.00 and 4.02 OK even in 4.04, but I can't add any more envelopes. I'm going to have to work out how to roll back to .02 but thats a pain in the ass, plus I like the non-glitchiness of the newer updates.whyterabbyt wrote:Hmmm, I see what you mean. have you poseted this on Cakewalks forum? I know they browse here occasionally, but you would prolly get a quicker response on their forum.

Yep, I even bumped someone else's post with similair issues. I've noticed the response on that forum can be quite sloooooooooow sometimes.Stupid American Pig wrote:have you poseted this on Cakewalks forum? Unless something else comes up I suppose a reinstall up to 4.02 is the best short term solution. Not the end of the world but a shame as I'm liking the new glitch-free performance!whyterabbyt wrote:Hmmm, I see what you mean.
