That's all relatively sane. Check out PWB.

Apparently I'm nuts. Rats. Nobody told me before. :(

Quad CD player, VdH D103 interconnect, AVC Valve amp, JPS speaker cables, IPL4 Transmission line speakers. Bl**dy best hifi I have ever heard and I have heard many. Happily nuts!

You stick to your ghetto-blaster farlukar, it's not the way I choose to go.

Admittedly, some of us are a bit bonkers, but that's people for you!

Did you bother to read any of farluker's link before getting all defensive?

Flakiest "audiophile" product I've heard of... it's a toss-up between the green (?) pen you run around the edge of a CD to "improve its audio quality," (heh) and the infamous Shakti Stones.

ISTR James Randi has offered his million-dollar prize to the makers of Shakti Stones if they can prove they actually work. Guess what? :-D [sfx="crickets.wav"]

For the record: I have no argument with those who want good equipment. It's when claims cannot be backed up with demonstrable, TESTABLE results that I laugh and point rudely.

I wish I had kept that magazine where the CEO for Monster Cable failed a double-blind cable test where his top cable was put against regular 1.5 power cable...

I'm all for good hardware, but the cable industry is a total scam.

I've been thinking of starting a business. You know them $500 speaker vibration reducers they sell?

Well the material is about the same as your average squash ball (I actually have sliced squash balls under the monitors in my studio). So I'll be selling these sliced $5 squash balls wait, Speaker Resonance Damper System H322i for a hefty profit.

Similarly, the glow-in-the-dark rubber insert you place on top of the CD as it plays to increase audio quality (something to do with blackening your red spectra or something). Funniest bit is that the glow only really lasts for about 10 minutes. Apparently stopping your disc player repeatedly is all part of the better audio experience.

It's not just cable. It's those lazy electrons that have to broken in. And then they have to be used in special 'directional' cables because they're so stupid. And then the cable must have a sufficient number of 'articulation points' so the high-frequency and bass electrons arrive in the same time zone. That kind of technology doesn't come cheap.

And NEVER let your cables touch the floor. All the magic and pace will drain out of them and your music will be listless. Then you will need a major infusion of cash for cable rehabilitation and power purification.

Junk Science: Making millions by touching the lives of millions everyday with promises real science can't keep.
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

Silver Rock Signature Knob

$500 for a replacement knob on a volume control. That puts Ihsan's compressor(distortion) plugin to shame in pure audaciousness.

Excellent!

Here's a golden audiophile tip:

listen to these audio files to warm your ears every time you wanna experience music at it's best. Each of the files is optimised to redeem and enhance the full potential of your auditorial sense. Just listen to one of them and your ears will be in the best shape possible.

How does it work?
- Ever heard of brain wave syncing? We have developed Soul Wave Sync to prepare your inner being for enhanced musical stimulation. It's muy zen. Think of it as a hostless Delay Guru, chanting into your inner ear.
- Multi Frequency Band Auditorial Stimulation. Our audio files contain exactly those frequencies in the exact order needed to as it were, awake and stimulate the body cells in your ears, solar plexus and tapping feet.
- the Law of Contrasts. Once you've heard these files, your perception of bad will change. Your tolerance level will improve. (If any bodily discomfort or suicidal tendencies arise, stop listening immediately and Google for a nudy pic of [censored] Assume a military pose and salute the image. Wash your mouth and proceed with caution. Your orders are in an envelope beneath your matress)

Aren't you supposed to braid your cables or something, too?
