personally, LFO sync is more in line with electronic/dance stuff - enabling you to sync say a filter, volume, pitch or pan to the tempo. Pitch modulation is great as you recreate the warmth of those vintage synths, or in the acoustic realm add vibrato to instruments, this is aided by LFO delay, so you could have a trumpet play the note straight, then effectively fade in some vibrato towards the end when your LFO kicks in - or for effect, you could create your own Wonky Tuba player patch.

Here's another example...
Pick a nice grand piano sound...my favourites are Acoustic Grand 3, or if you've got Sonik Synth 2, The One.
Select Synth and then Stretch mode. You'll probably get the Performing Preanalysis box if you haven't used Stretch on this sound before - wait for this to complete.
Now turn the Harmonics dial up to around 14, and set the release time on Envelope 1 to zero. Voila - instant Clavi! Now up the Tempo in the Synth section to around 400 - now it sounds more like a banjo.
These are the two controls that affect the sound the most, but you need to play around to get the most out of it.
Hope this helps...

OK I see you can morph sounds this way right? Thanks.
Can you use and LFO to modulate pitch?

2.1 seems to be working ok for me in sx so far, but i have a problem in standalone mode. sound only comes out the left output.
im using a delta 44, and have its asio driver selected in the options, with only the first stereo outputs selected (tried fiddling with all this though).
also, after fiddling with the transpose i started getting a stuck note, ie. whenever i press that note it plays with release. used to happen to me quite bit with previous version too.

Either of the LFO's can be used to modulate pitch, but LFO1 is more suited as it's got the delay control; just adjust the rate, depth and pitch (and delay if wanted) controls to suit.Beardedone wrote:Can you use and LFO to modulate pitch?

You've got me on that one!
I know that (nearly?) everything in SampleTank can be assigned to a MIDI controller - click on the MIDI CTL button at the top and then on the parameter (dial) you want to control, which will bring up the MIDI CTL Association window. You then need to assign the controller number of your choice by clicking in the Controller number column and moving your mouse.
Having said all that, your sustain pedal is not a variable controller, just an on/off switch, so I'm not sure if you can assign it to anything other than sustain.

Sustain is CC64 by default right so I can try to assign in the MCA windo. I am still trying to get the Synclavier harmonica patch that Lyle Mays used for "Are You Going With Me".

Hello, I have emailed IK Multimedia support, but in the meantime, I thought I would ask here too.,,, Has anyone played with the range controls yet? This was the part of the upgrade I was most anxious to get. I cannot get it to work at all? Mostly trying the note range settings.
Is there a trick I'm missing. Thanks if anyone has any ideas....I'm feeling a little clueless here..

...update...stupid here...range only affects midi input not the attached keyboard...carry on...

Apparently, whether ST (or another plug-in) gets to see and respond to mouse-wheel events depends on whether your host program passes those events on to ST. Some do, some don't. dgkenney mentions that mouse-wheel support works in Cubase but not in Live... a shame, I have Live but not Cubase.blades wrote:I can't use my scroll wheel any differently than before (read: not at all), and I didn't see any "enable" option in the "prefs".

i guess this wasnt the case.Squids wrote:It's coming. As for as speculation on it being "buggy" that'd be incorrect. It is less so than ever before so...
All of the anticipation(11 months overdue)for what? I have had nothing but problems with the update. My combis wont work, random crashes in FL (and it is not my computer problem. I never crashed before). No compatibility for 2.0 songs??? Cmon! What have IK been doing all of this time. This is far from fool-proof. Why couldn't we just get the Philharmonik engine in this case.

Still, it would have been nice if it had not had these bugs after waiting so long...

Thanks Squids - that's fine.Squids wrote: It's not a bug. It just works a little differently for some reason. Try what I just said above.
I thought it would be really strange for something like that to go unnoticed.

Ok, I think I have the hold then select thing down, but it is odd that it works that way now, since it is different that before without any apparent reason why it should be. And the solution when you do try to proceed as before is not necessarily obvious or intuitive. Perhaps this is what Jason meant when he replied to me, that it works but doesn't work as before and maybe that wasn't supposed to happen. Still, I wonder why in his email to me he didn't mention hold-select? Or why, if this change were deliberate, it isn't mentioned in anything I've read thusfar, which, I must say to be fair, does not include the manual for 2.1 in total.Bassballjg wrote:I'll try this, but Jason from IK Tech Support has responded to my email by saying that the button will be fixed soon. This would indicate that there is a problem, and that they are on it. We shall see.Squids wrote:Yes, you need to hold the mouse click down and then select as opposed to clicking and then clicking a second time which is maybe what you're used to.fdmusic wrote:I get no import window when I click on the "Import" option... Anyone else figure out how to get that working?
Meanwhile, I've played a bit with the new STRETCH and am loving it.
The imports I have just done are fine. Thanks for coming forward with the answer, Squids.

this is friggin unbelieveable
first of all, every SINGLE time, if i start it up in standalone mode, play a few chords with strings, notes will stick EVERY time. doesn't seem to in AU mode (logic pro 7.1.1)
secondly, the scroll wheel support doesn't work in logic. don't give me any crap about it being logics fault - it works fine in battery 2 and logic
also, you stick can't double click on a name and have the arrow collapse to show you whats in the folder - you have to move the mouse and delicately click on those bloody triangles. this is standard GUI practice, man
basically, as far as MY usage of it, nothing has changed at all. i have a standalone mode which is useless to me, and i can't tell any difference at all in AU mode.
this software just isn't for me. i would sell this if ikmultimedia's policies on this weren't so amateurish and pathetic
i'm really angry at this. nothing has changed at all. really. i don't care about stretch features. i just want a professional sampler/rompler, which is cpu efficient, and has the best samples. maybe this will change with the new sampleset. i will purchase the upgraded soundset in this hope.
but the interface is still ass.
