Recieved my new version B4 II today - so giving a spin but it appears to be buggy - shock horror.

A lot of the presets are either giving loud click are making no sound at all at which point you have restart the plug in.

The times where I can use it sounds pretty good but you do pay in CPU usage - B4 would average between 4-5% whereas B4 II is using between 18-25% - so think it is worth keeping the old version installed for ease of use.

if that is true i would have expected them to catch it in beta phase. perhaps you dont own the highest spec pc available?

generally the developers and beta testers use the highest spec pcs, and therefore do not find these problems. might be related to cpu bugs or other things which did not occur on the beta testing machines.

otherwise, seems like it might assert the fact NI are jerks.. not sure.

i'd expect a patch for this, try asking them.

PC is pretty high spec and I doubt if this bug is attributable to my PC set up

Also NI are known for releasing buggy software

Any company that only tests on the highest spec computers is best avoided.

just got mine in the mail.
it came in the most complex envelope i have ever seen in my life. 7 layers inside there and all it has is a cd and a serial number on an 8.5x11 sheet. mabey its a security thing?

anyways... i do notice some clicking in the attack of a few presets. but besides that i think its working just fine over here.

i already like it much more than version 1.

thanks NI.

can you update Intakt now? Pretty please... with sugar on top.

PT; you'd better stop buying ALL software then :)

i code on a p3 450, katmai mind you, with the float bug, and various other niffty 'features'.

i of course feel this is a terrible disadvantage when composing, but when programming it leads me to do a lot more optimization than i otherwise would.

the problem isnt only that big companies can afford the newest systems, and therefore do infact use them for every stage of the process, but they dont want to spend the time required to make sure it works on old systems.

ask anyone "what is the average system these days", answer: 2.x ghz with 1gb ram, some fancy ati/nvidia video card, audio via sb audigy or etc.

that is the machine most companies will build for.

the goal is percentage, not absolute value.

the rule, i forget its name, but:

"as capacity increases, waste will increase to fill the void."

with the amount of power we have today i feel ashamed to live in a world that is only a bit better than yesturday. yesturday we were using a 386 22 and 8mb of ram was a lot.
today we've got something atleast 100x more powerful, is the software 100x better? i'd say maybe 10x.

actually the B4 2 is working like a charm. its not clicking.. and none of the presets produce silence.
notice the knob in the organ tab called "key click"...

I do believe that the word "unplayable" does not apply, since it does play...you should really change that, a tad misleading...unless your an attention seeker, then keep it.

Man, this Komplete care has really paid off...I'm thinking about doing the new one but what could they possiably upgrade that would be worth A3, R5, K2 and now B4 (having EP, GR1)?
The armchair is more than the sum of the bastards

just a note: fanboyism is the death of software improvement.

How is stating that my B4 does not work and is therefore unplayable attention seeking

Coulkd be worse, I had no serial number in my envelope and NI are not responding to my e-mails so my B4II is currently unplayable!!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Incorrect assumption. I do some testing for NI, and I use a 933 MHz PIII...

Of course, you clearly should have painted a happier picture.

A suggested thread title could be "b4 is great..." to which the opening line in your first post could have answered "...if it wasn't for these clicks I'm getting that render it unplayable."

That way your point is made and the sensibilities of the overly sensitive have not been upset.

that envelope is the cheapest piece of crap i've received software in yet! it won't even serve as a proper storage sleeve for the CD.

jeez, can they find anymore places to cut corners...

If that is how they beta, then they arent beta testing properly. I doubt that NI or anyother company would runa a beta like that.
