Hmm,I've been using 1.53 all night, it isn't crashing my Samplitude 8.2.
Could it be a cpu issue? I'm using a 3.2 Ghz. P4 and I'm showing about 30% with one usage, all three filters.

You are certainly going in the right direction. Make it as simple as possible on the GUI, clean, easy to adjust and stable. ME's will follow if they find it sounds good. Just make some noise when you feel like it is ready and yea, make it a DX version too. ME's use DX much more often then VST. Good luck.

Have I got a treat for all of you!!

We found a way to provide everyone a chance to use the 10-band PLParEQ Phase-Liinear Parametric Equalizer for up to 30 days. Just go to our web page and download the Zip file and install PLParEQ in your VST plugins folder. When you first start the plugin, a dialog box will appear offering you the chance to evaluate the software, purchase a license, or register either online or by telephone.

Registered license holders will be entitled to install on up to two (2) machines per license. They will also receive lifetime support for bug fixes, software exensions, and documentation additions. And yes, ... we fully intend to keep adding additional capabilities to this filter.

As you all realize, this is the finest digital filtering system available. And we intend to keep it that way. Competition will intensify and we will be working hard to maintain our position of technical leadership.

Cheers,

BTW... the latest version is 1.54. The only change in that version is to clear up the "???" appearing in the 3-band demo automation labels.

I still haven't seen any evidence of random color switching. There are two provisos, though...

1. Receptor Wine is not 100%, so some of the highlight outlines don't get updated as they ought to. I haven't seen this behavior on Windows PC's.

2. Adding mixtures of Stereo, Middle, and Side filtering can become confusing at first. Work your way into it gently...

By that I mean, the background composite curves will appear to switch between green and skyblue, or orange and yellow, depending on your M/S configurations.

Secondly, the presence of even one filter that is nonlinear will make the entire composite nonlinear, even if all the rest of the filters are linear-phase. That will cause the composite filters to switch between green and yellow (for Stereo/Middle), or orange and blue (for Side).

It can become very confusing at first... Perhaps there would be a better way to show this kind of complex filtering arrangement? I'm open to suggestions. And as you have all seen, I usually implement them fairly quickly.

... as for DX vs VST vs AU...

Our experience has shown that VST provides the absolute fastest throughput with minimum overhead in the CPU.

We are porting to OS X VST and AU at this time, but the results on PowerPC's are somewhat disappointing compared to high-end Pentiums. Also, the AMD cores have trouble keeping up when using our Pentium-specific code. I downloaded some special AMD libraries the other day and will try to rectify that situation as well (affects some PC's and certainly affects the Receptor).

I tried it with my older Samplitude 7.23 and it's still crashing immediately upon inserting. I'm using an older AMD Athlon 1.3 Thunderbird. Getting a new machine next month, but I really do want to hear these plugs.

I wonder if the AMD is tripping over some Intel-specific instructions in the DSP core routines. Those are specifically Pentium III and higher codes. I found the equivalent libraries at the AMD site the other day, and perhaps that will improve the situation for both you and the Receptor.

The Receptor runs these plugins just fine, but it is huffing much harder than my Pentiums....

I just downloaded the zip file for the 10 band, samplitude is not detecting it.
However it was running smooth with the 3 band 1.53 not 1.54

Is the 3 band a limited time demo? How much for the 10 band? I couldn't find the prices. I would also be using it in Samplitude. I will let you know if it crashes anything on my system.

Post

Hmm... don't know why the VST host can't detect it? It has its own unique ID in the VST system. Did you make certain to drop the DLL into your VST plugins directory? (You have to do that yourself!)

The 3 Band PLParEQ3 is not time limited, has zero limitations other than your computer running out of gas when you stack them up... The 10-band can run all 10 bands with about 30% CPU load. You won't be able to stack 3 copies of the 3-Band and get by with much less than 80-90% CPU loading, simply because the VST host interface overhead, and the repeated upsampling/downsampling will exhaust your available computing power. The 10-band unit only has to do that stuff once for all 10 bands.

The price of the 10 band unit is shown on that website as $1,000 USD.

There is no difference between 1.53 and 1.54 except for cleaning up the automation parameter names for the 3-band demo. That was an artifact of sawing the 10-band unit into thirds... If anyone really has a problem with the 10 band, I certainly want to know about it.

For all you science fiction freaks out there, you can also go to our other web page

http://refinedaudiometrics.com/pages/15/index.htm

and download a 30-day trial copy of our System 1200.

After all that we have been through together, now maybe you will believe it is real. Give it a try, or tell your friends, who may need such a system, about this offer. No risk, 30 days of full capability. At the very least you can enjoy another month of music before sinking back into that dark hole again...

Hi Dave. Thanx for the great freebies. The 3-band GUI version is definitely going to be my goto EQ. I wish you luck with your buiseness plan cause you and your fellas deserve it. Unfortunately not in your target group (a hobbyist here) but I appreciate good things.

David,

any chance for the option to select L or R channel for each band specifically? I.e. when wanting to process an incoming M/S signal instead of a stereo signal (basically just some way to bypass the internal encoder/decoder).

best

Markus
