Has anyone noticed some problems with it? I've so far only heard one bug report. I would like to know if more people experience crashing or some other bug. Even if it doesn't crash, it'd be nice to hear it. Tell which host/os you are using. Thanks!

I've used it on two projects for several hours with no problems. It sounds great -- I particularly love the cpu slider. thanks! I'll be paypaling you some dough as soon as I get paid.

Magnus, what is ambience? A plug-in fx or vsti?

Post

Hi Ned...

Ambience is a VST effect.
It's a (very, imho) high quality reverb.

Hey ned!

Mann this thing is hot.

first the oddity demo now this thing :o

so far soo good :)

in cubase VST 5.1r1/32 i put it inside a folder(BetaFX)
but when "Se!Ambiance" is used as a send,
the folder does not appear.

just the plugin all by itself

in cubase Vst 5.1r1/32 running Os-9.2.2

This must be the most stable Beta i've ever used, no crashes yet, and it recall presets just fine

I love the function of when no audio is going thru it,
it just doesn't touch the cpu

Very nice plate and halls and rooms are even better ...love the gate function on it(say i must recommend this to a guy on cubase.net)

and it does the Old spring Reverb on old funk records really good :)

to my ear the best free reverb plugin yet :)

Tried it on Logic 4.8.1 with OS 9.2.2 and it worked just fine.
Sounds really good.
I am seldom impressed with SW reverbs but this one was relly good.
Nice work.

Thanks for the replies! Seems that it is working well for most of you.
Unless I hear about some bugs within a week or two, I'm gonna remove the -alpha suffix :)
Cheers

Merci beaucoup, RealMarco!

And thanks Magnus! :D

Works fine in Logic 5.5. Really very, very good, especially for a free reverb. My only criticism is that since there is no specific GUI in Logic, the standard blue box leaves out some of the titles of the parameters (and there are many!!). There could also be some presets, but I guess we could do a little work in that area as well

The other thing, and I suppose this comes with having a powerful reverb plug, is the CPU consumption. At 100%, it takes almost double what my Renaissance Verb does. Of course, you can always reduce to a smaller amount.

All in all, congratulations Magnus :!: :!: :!:

Ned,

the problem is that Zeal optimized Ambience on the PC by using special instructions found in the SSE-instruction set.

However, he doesn't have a mac so can't do the same thing w/ Altivec!

It could most likely be twice as fast if Magnus had access to a mac, but ....

Don't worry about the UI, there's going to be a GUI for this baby :)

Thanks for the details, Bram.

Magnus, can I pass on news about this baby now, or would you rather I wait until it no longer is in alpha/beta mode? Actually, maybe it's best we wait until there's a proper GUI in Logic, no?
