The MX200 is definately not a plugin. It's a hardware reverb, that can only handle 1 stereo input via audio channels only. The reason the marketing blurb describes it as a "plugin" is that they have a controller plugin that appears as a VST, and gives the appearance of being a plugin, but all it is doing is allowing you to tweak the hardware device, and automate it. So you can't run multiple instances, and you definately have to use your audio to send and return.
Not a bad idea - but not a plugin as we know it.

I thought so to,but a Lexicon rep finally explained that no audio passes through USB,the USB connection is just so the VST plugin can communicate with the hardware. Also, you have route the audio i/o through the extra i/o of your card and your limited to stereo obviously, the VST plugin mereley controls the hardware parematers.First off,I feel that they sort of misled people, secondly I think their missing an oportunity and shooting themselves in the foot.iDavid wrote:I thought it "plugged-in" with the USB???

yep i tried it....Haven't compared it yet to other plugs/hardware....and the VST-plugin feature is actualy a "remote" control for the hardware unit. The send/return goes in realtime trough your audiodevice.

The deal is that you can save the settings along with your project just as easily as any vst. I think that was lexicon's main reason for making the thing in the first place, taking away at least one argument for not using hardware. I may be wrong though..

Good point, but since you can only route one instance in stereo, most people will probably just route it through an aux with a basic setting anyway,so it's not that big a deal given it's limitation.aallvor wrote:The deal is that you can save the settings along with your project just as easily as any vst.
