A recent online review said this about Miroslav Philharmonik's sample editing capabilities:

"You get a switchable multimode filter and two sets of envelope controls — one for amplitude and another for both pitch and filter cutoff modulation. There are also two tempo-synchronized low frequency oscillators: LFO-1 has a delay control for more realistic vibrato and tremolo effects, and is depth controlled by the modulation wheel on your midi keyboard; LFO-2 has a pan control for Auto-pan type effects."

I'm new to sample editing, and wonder if anyone could translate this for me: which parameters can be edited -- and which not -- with these features? For example, could one easily edit attack?
Thanks!

Yes! You can edit attack!

Seriously, Philharmonik has over 50 sound editing parameters. All the parameters you've quoted are user-editable. :)

Hello again, Kim;

Forgive my ignorance, but is it possible/easy to affect a Miroslav Philharmonik (MP) sample's vibrato intensity (or vibrato volume, or speed) via a continuous controller -- either via an actual controller (eg, modulation wheel or pedal), or a continuous controller interface within a sequencer (eg, Cubase's Key Editor controller display)?

I was hoping to be able to find this out for myself, but IK's Canadian distributor is still unable to obtain a Not-for-sale copy for any vendors in nearby cities! :?

You can do this with an LFO to pitch assigned to Modwheel. It is very easy to do. However, the best sounding vibrato is the natural one from the players. Ironically most samplers don't allow any control of that but Philharmonik's Stretch engine does allow you to change the speed of the vibrato a lot of times which is interesting since it is the real natural vibrato and tonal shape you'd be playing with. In the next day or so there will be a downloadable video on www.philharmonik.com where I go VERY deep into the product showing this and many other things. Keep your eye out for it!

Cool Squids - I'm looking for DEEP, DEEP, DEEP.
You reckon you're up to the task?

This sounds great, Squids. Would you be kind enough to let us know when the video is online, and how big it is? (I live in a rural area where the only 'higher speed' is in a local library.) Thanks!

How big it is? That's kind of personal. Okay, I kid (in a borderline pc way but... we ARE all musicians right? Low level humor is ok? npi). Yes, I would be glad to tell you all when it is on line. I think it might go up today actually. But, I will confirm this.

Can this be done in ST2.1? I'm trying to get to grips with using LFOs - assigning midi controllers etc. It still doesn't seem that simple to me.

Thanks,
Gordon

Is it the 3.6 MB "video presentation" at http://www.philharmonik.com/Main.html?MPFreeDwn ? If not, let me know -- I've already booked my internet time at the local library for today (Friday)

Thanks!

Just downloaded the above myself -- I somehow doubt that it's the video you've been describing

Will the newer video be save-able, so that we can use it for reference, or will we have to do online streaming every time we want to check something out?

I see your "Explorer" videos online, but wonder if you can help with a problem there:

a) Downloading MP3 demos: On my machine, these are downloading as streaming audio, but with no control panel visible. Ie, I'm unable to rewind or re-play. Worst, I'm completely unable to save them! I'm on a slow dial-up, and so can't simply download each time I want to hear them. Any tips?

b) Will I be able to save your videos to HD, for reference? If so, can you tell me how?

Thanks!

Right-Click on mp3-link, then select "Save Target As..."

Downloading worked, of course. However, now Quicktime won't play it: it gives me an error message "#-8971".

I just put an answer on the other thread about these videos. Try downloading the latest version of Quicktime 7.0.3. This worked for me, and the videos now play OK. The only disappointment I had was that the picture quality is not good enough to see exactly what is happening on the Miro desktop as the settings are being adjusted.
