I never registered mine and it has stopped letting me update.

I went to register and they want name, address and phone number.

Has anyone registered with them?

Do they spam, or harass, or give away your personal information?

Avast rocks. they update their database almost daily.

It is also the most customizable gui of any antivirus software I have seen.

I'm a big advocate of AVAST as well. It's a cool package, and I never fail to be amazed that it's free (for home use!)

Well, you need a correct email for them to mail you your registration data.

I've used avast for several years now and I don't recall ever getting anything from them other than the initial email after I registered, very respectable company with a fine product.

There's a whole lot of AV firms; if you're a relatively unknown player on the market, making your "home use" product free is a good way to draw attention. And hopefully then they'll get some corporate sales out of that attention. Which I think they will, as their product is A-OK

ASW have been around for quite a number of years now, and are reasonably well known in europe for their corporate product. It is good that they value the home market, and have made a connection that managers and directors have homes to go to where they still need protection..
