free noise gate

there is no noise gate available for free or for a fee to clean up single coil p/u noise! not one developer is even looking into this as far as i know. heffus lets bump this topic until we get a developer to take this noise gate project up. you should change the topic name to something like noise gate developer take a look.

FWIW, I use the free Green gate:

I record with a strat so I know your pain. Make sure you turn off your computer monitors when recording. Note that this will NOT get rid of noise that is in your signal, it will just cut off the noise right below your instrument level (amp noise, etc) when you are not playing anything. It has a nice smooth cutoff that doesn't "choke" the notes. Hope this helps

Another vote for Floorfish; I've recently been using it for cleaning up noise/hum from my Strat's stock open-coil pickups and with a little bit of tweaking it works great.
