How to convert a Altiverb IR to Wav

Recently I managed to get a few Stuffit files from the Altiverb IR Collection with IR's of a large cathedral. After some foolin' around with Stuffit the file is finally unpacked.
But now what? I've got few files and directories, but nothing what seems to be usefull. So here are my questions to those with experience with Altiverb:
- wich file(s) (extension?) contains the IR
- How to convert these files to a stereo WAV file?
Any help appreciated

These are probably in Sound Designer II format. On the PC, Stuffit Expander needs to be properly configured to handle Mac ressource forks correctly. You also need at least one NTFS partition and a software which can read and convert SD2 files.
Note: I don't think you have the right to convert this IR library unless you own an Altiverb licence.

Hi,
Nando
I believe that's how they started out but the files are encrypted. It is not a simple matter of converting them using a regular utility although I have never tried myself.n-04:05:03:05:7 wrote:These are probably in Sound Designer II format.

you have two options sound forge or http://www.railjonrogut.com/sdTwoWav.zip it works but you also need a wave editor to put the left and right files together sdtwowav is the way to go

I noticed that it is not that easy. Trying all kind of different settings (16/24 bits, sr=48000, 1/2channel) all I got was a 12 sec. of noise.Nando wrote:Hi,I believe that's how they started out but the files are encrypted. Maybe this isn't the best way to obtain a quality IR. I consider to record some IR myself as I can have access to a few dutch (large) cathedrals. But I need to know how it's be done in the best way, because there are lots of very poor IR's on the internet.
Till now I've got the simple idea to shoot a starter pistol from the spot beneath the organ and record it from the the spot just at the begin of the choir (this is the place I prefer during concerts).
Is there a website with tips and trics in recording IR's?
Thanks in advance!
