woo!

finally got the guitar I wanted - a Kramer 350G, looks like it's circa '77-79 so she's about as old as me :D

it sounds absolutely gorgeous, it feels so nice playing this compared to my cheap les paul

who else here is in love with aluminum neck guitars?

Post

i had 1 of those. i traded it in for a classic ibanez cause it killed my shoulder

steve albini apparently likes aluminum neck guitars. is that what typifies that distinct shellac guitar sound?

yeah, albini is a big Travis Bean fan - one of the guys I record with uses a Bean, so that's how I learned about the wonders of aluminum :D

The weight of this guitar is actually REALLY nice to me - feels substantial.

Oh, and running it through a metasonix butt probe into a fender deluxe reverb is INSTANT drudge-core :hihi:

there's a guy in chicago that builds aluminum guitars...his name is ian schneller, and he's got/had a great band called "Falstaff"...i guess he made one for big al, wouldn't be suprised if he built mr. albinis' ax either...really, really cool guy that does good inexpensive guit fiddle/electric twanger work....

i forgot to mention his shop is called "specimen products" on homan ave. in chicago if anyone needs his services...good at tubes amps as well...

Steve Albini had to have a special belt made to hold the weight of the guitar whilst in Big Black

aluminum neck- HERETIC! :hihi:

at my current income level, I cant justify spending > 500 for a guitar. Plus I love my Epi sheraton.

a guitarist i play with bought a flying V, aluminum neck, kramer bass at a pawn shop. i hate that f**king thing, although it looks metal!

you know, I'm not mainly a guitarist, I use it for rhythm guitar and for alot of ambience, as well as some standard parts here and there - but this damned guitar is just so awesome to play for me, and it sounds so much better through my standard effects chains....

so if that makes me a heretic, then so be it :hihi:

One of the best sounding bass guitars I played on was also a Kramer ! Incredible long sustain and great punch ! The weight might be a problem though.
