Eijkhout, I don't know about AU version yet, but I can tell you that it's not at all impossible!
Ned, you can pass on the news I think:) It says pretty clearly on the page that ppl should be careful with the mac version. Spreading the news is the best favor you can give me. (except for donations:))

Hi Magnus,
First off, thanks for a beautiful plugin. You're right to be proud of it, it is absolutely gorgeous. The sheer density of the reverb is awesome - it doesn't have that cheap metallic 'I'm a software reverb' characteristic that'll all to often present. I love some of the unusual parameters - 'Hold' in particular.
It's such a shame that you don't have access to a Mac to give it G4 altivec optimisations - it is a bit of a CPU gobbler on Mac. But, hey, Logic 6 around the corner with Track Freeze functionality, that'll sort it out.
Anyway. I have had a few problems working it for about 8 hours in total. Here's a description of the problems:
Mac OS 9.2.2, Logic Platinum 5.5
M-Audio Delta 44, ASIO
Often with an instance of ambience open and active on a track, all audio will cut out - including audio on tracks without the ambience plugin inserted. Pressing 'play' results in a loud pop, a second pop when I press 'stop'. I can use the plugin for hours without this happening. This problem often gets triggered by a quick movement of the SPL in logic; while the song is playing quickly dragging the SPL back a few bars can kill the audio. Or a quick 'stop-stop-play' to reset the SPL to the begging and commence playback often triggers this problem too. These pops / audio cutout problems sound EXACTLY like Bram's old bugged Mac VST version of Crazy Ivan... it used to cut audio out and produce pops on playback / stop. Dunno if that helps.
A second issue - seems to occur after the 'audio cut out' problem has happened. If I go File->Revert To Saved, Logic crashes, booting me out to the dektop. Often then, if I try to restart Logic, it crashes on startup - requires a system restart to get things back up and running.
I hope these comments are of use. They're certainly not meant as criticism - I think it's bloody marvelous that without even having access to a Mac you've got it as good as you have. Excellent.
Expect a donation from me before too long. I will definitely be using this plugin often, especially if a Logic GUI is added and these Audio cut out / pop problems are resolved.
Thanks again and all the best,
Ben

Ambience is super cool.
Now all we need is patches ... and /or a gui.
I mean, with a clearer gui, its easier to program it myself.
But as it is, it would be cool to have some "starter" patches!
Any hints? Especially about that Spring sound, mentioned elsewhere?

Hey,
As Magnus says on his site...
Send him presets everyone!!!!!!
We'll add them to when the GUI arrives.

How do I send you my presets?
can I simply do the SAVE AS files from Logic Mac, and send you the Plugin Settings file?

Unless I'm wrong, Logic presets can only be shared between Logic users...

Hey Guys,
dunno how logic works, but the best way is to send "fxp" files.
Cubase and quite a few hosts (bidule is a free one) allow you to save *.fxp (fx patch file) and *.fxb (fx bank files).
[edited...]
Oh, and these files work on mac too!!

Hehe, let's make some presets for ambience! Send them to magnus[at]smartelectronix[dot].com, and then they will be included in the forthcoming release that will have a 'leet gui and all:)

I've never seen this before but unfortunately loading 1 instance of Ambience on 1 channel of audio creates a CPU over which doesn't recover. My system : VST4.1r1 OS 9.2 G3dt266.
cheers,

Hey Macmod, sorry for the late reply:)
I think it might work if you lower the "quality" knob. Then it takes less cpu.

Having used it on my Athlon PC for a while now I haven't had a single problem. It's a brilliant reverb with a character of its own, so good I actually like it better than Reverb-It which I paid money for... Can't wait for the GUI version!

Ambience is wicked!!!
The only problem I have noticed is, that after restarting Logic 6.0 and reloading the song, the reverb is 100% wet although the sliders are in the right position.
After moving the sliders, the correct levels are activated again.
Anyone else noticed this???
