This Tuning is one type of Drop tuned D Tuning that guitarists would use alot on the real guitar
It is tuned by keeping the whole guitar at proper pitch and dropping only the 2 - E strings down to a D. So this set is close to that but the Drop D note on the High E string is simulated by using the D note in that Octave. All the rest of the strings are suppose to be at proper pitch.
So it works pretty well for this Particular Tuning. A Simple Drop D that is very popular amongst Guitarists.
Now if i sampled chords with the drop tuning ... then i would want to capture the sounds of all the strings with proper overtones and Harmonics etc. But with Notes this is not so great to do as it sounds Noisey in the individual samples. And believe me acoustics can be noisey enough on their own to record, so some isolation of strings is sometimes needed for certain sample work or particular sets.
Anyways i am real happy with this 12 string set. It has a Big Alternative type tone to it! We caught some Low end in it for the Grunge - Alt Sound. Yet it can be EQed to your liking for all other styles too.
Back to the old line .... One set won't do it all
so you have to remember that this set is only about 50 meg of the included 1.2 Gig of content.And we will, and are keeping new sets / styles coming out all the time.
