I would say that this is a must buy for Kontakt owners to get an idea of how things can be programmed. I find it interesting that in some cases its programming techniques get me more excited than its actual sound content - not that it is not great, but in some cases it doesn't fit into my style. For example, the sequenced drums with either the monophonic or polyphonic step sequencer are very interesting but I doubt, that I'll ever use some technoid-industrial machine type of drums. I haven't tried the melody maker but the drum computer and the loopdesigner are very cool but they're lacking the possibility of triggering various sequences via key switches (...and I'm sure it is possible as the scripts can receive midi data...)
Don't know if this has been helpful to you, just my first impressions...

Now that we've had a few months since the release, any additional opinions out there? I'm thinking of picking one up during the holidays.
Worth while?

Are the Kontakt scripts really better than using midi effects? I hear a lot about their potential, but I do not think I have seen anything really innovative yet. Yes, I do own Kontakt 2, and like it a lot, but I just wonder sometimes where NI are putting their energy.

yes they are, much much better. they work a t a micro level and have extremely fine resolution. They are really cool, once you get your head around what they can and can't do. Even using them to finely modulate a controller is cool, cos they are not restricted to a resolution of 127.
