CDDB-data download problem

My old Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 doesn´t download CDDB data anymore. I know that the CDDB website has changed, but it doesn´t seem to be possible to change the CDDB web adress in Easy CD Creator 4. But I don´t want to buy a new burn software.

So my question: Is there a free CD burning software with CDDB support? Or is there a free program only for automatic downloading CD informations from the web?

How do you get the CD track titles when you have copied a commercial CD from a friend for private use? Typing them? Copy the booklet? Web data base?

I use CDex to get my CD's into Mp3 format for use on my Mp3 player. The offical SourceForge site is down but you can get the latest version from here :-

All the album infos are from the freedb.org database which I have a local copy of and CDex makes use of

www.freedb.org - cddb was bought by gracenote and turned commercial, to support it licensing fees have to be paid by the software developer offering the database lookup. A lot of software that used to use CDDB went over to freedb consequently. Gracenote tried to sue (under DMCA) developers moving to freedb dropping CDDB support, which is why freedb is getting popular so quickly.

Thanks much for your help, folks.

Shifrin, CDex is really a nice program and also good for my purposes.

can anyone tell me a good strategy to go about when you release your own CD? What i did recently was go into winamp, sent in the info- but musicmatch didnt retreive the info so i re-registered the track names with musicmatch. thankfully iTunes was able to retreive it thanks to either my work in winamp or musicmatch

so is there a program that ensures that my track names are submitted to all the services under the sun? if not it would be a useful tool for indie artists
