I wish I could see some info on how artists are being paid. "Indie" label or not I would be willing to bet that the artists aren't going to get paid any more fairly than a standard contract.

that may be true, but it appears that they are trying not to attach strings to the band to suppress them from signing elsewhere if they are unahppy with the label.

The only reason to go with a major is to get noticed, since you tap in to established systems of marketing, funding, distribution. What I don't get with these ventures is what differentiates them from all the other noise on the interweb? Other than these pseudonews puff pieces, how is a major really going to help Humanwine (
the name alone is reason enough for me to ignore them) more than something like CD Baby?
