If I was rolling in it, with loads of spare time, I would seriously consider getting a Xone 3dD (when it comes out) and building myself a MIDIbox sequencer to control Glitch. As it is I'm always skint and constantly bsy, but it's important to dream

Ahhh, so MIDI is a lot more intergrated now. I was going by a comment by yourself pages earlier in this thread saying that MIDI control of it was very limited. Guess you have done more work on it since then, which is very good news

Glitch v1.2.2 is now available.
http://illformed.org/glitch/
Changes:
- Added an effect selection menu and more randomisation options to the pattern sequencer.
- Added automatable parameters and MIDI controls for all solo/global toggles and the randomise effects button.
- Rearranged a few MIDI control numbers.
- Minor adjustments to the de-click routine.

dblue:
I've been playing with the demo for a couple of days now. Absolutely excellent piece of kit!
Is there any way to tie adjacent beats together in the step sequencer? Putting the same effect in two adjacent beats seems to sequentially trigger the effect.
I'll definitely be picking this up soon!

Think I know what you're trying to do here.ecamburn wrote:Is there any way to tie adjacent beats together in the step sequencer? Putting the same effect in two adjacent beats seems to sequentially trigger the effect.
If you're trying to make an effect play out for a certain duration, 4 steps for example, you do not need to activate all 4 steps.
Whenever an effect is triggered it will play out until the sequencer reaches the next effect, so if you put an effect on step 1 and leave steps 2, 3 and 4 empty, the effect will play for the duration of those 4 steps.
If this isn't what you meant then please describe it for me a little more and I'll try to help.
In hindsight I should have made it so that the actual duration of each effect is shown more clearly. Something like this:

Thanks for clarifying. This is exactly what I was asking.dblue wrote: Whenever an effect is triggered it will play out until the sequencer reaches the next effect, so if you put an effect on step 1 and leave steps 2, 3 and 4 empty, the effect will play for the duration of those 4 steps.

dBlue: If I just want to sample divide and not bitcrush do I just set the Quantise knob to max? I am finding that the sample divider does not sound as good as the Cubase SX one which is a shame (and kind of strange - isn't a sample divider pretty simple?). Is there a fixed mimimum amount of bitcrushing also going on? i.e. is the bit crusher properly turned off when I set the knob to one extreme?
This is a real shame as sample dividing is my most used effect - and I'd love to be able to use it properly in dblueGlitch!
Thanks again for the fricking amazing plugin. I am still finding a few bugs while using it with SX2 but when a working version arives I'll definatley buy it!

Unfortunately that's exactly what is happening. When quantise is set to 128 (technically the "lowest" amount possible right now), the volume of the sound will be quantised to 128 possible levels, so there is always some level of quantising going on and probably some aliasing of the sound along with that.tryptic wrote:Is there a fixed mimimum amount of bitcrushing also going on?
I didn't actually model the effect after any others that I've seen or used, I just figured that it'd be a typical lo-fi effect which should have some parameters to make things sound dirty. To be honest I didn't even think about extending the range of the parameters to make it possible to get the clean/original sound out of it. Perhaps in a later update I will change it slightly to allow that.

Great! IMO bit crushing sounds crappy 99% of the time so it would be very nice to be able to use the sample divider alone! It gives that lovely crunchy vocal sounding aliasing .. you don't want that to be messed up by the bitcrusher - that just turns it into noise!

Spent a good couple of hours messing about with this and was very impressed, lots of glitchy goodness to be had!
Just wondering if longer-term (and sorry if this was asked / answered earlier) something that could be done which would allow the "hosting" of plugins within Glitch itself, allowing you to use those nine slots for existing 3rd party VSTs, triggered in exactly the same way as the internal Glitch FX do now. I know it presents some GUI and probably some CPU issues, but that would make this an absolutely fantastic piece of kit, and ultimately flexible for a massive variety of purposes

2Gargoyle, nice idea - i had the idea of something more simple, offering the user to build some sort of macros: in other words, some sort of a 'bundle' of different fx the plugin already offers, like stretch&retrigger but mainly i'm missing the ability to route single steps with / without an fx to a bunch of different output-ports and using this technique will also allow you to mangle the snippets thru 3rd party-plugins you routed to several outputs without having to include these plugz into glitch acting as a host. ...well, just some ideas. beside of that, i do LOVE that thing, it's so inspiring and to easy to use.

technoforum, your proposed solution works certainly.. I really had not thought of it that way (i.e. using output ports rather than "hosting" the plugins") - the only downside to that would be that you could not save presets with the plugins contained within the interface, which I think has advantages.
Agreed, it's a great effect

Yes, indeed... but as far as I can tell you can't easily use eXT to trigger specific effects within a sequenced patten...? I am sure you could use MIDI CC's to do it, but it's cumbersome when compared to what could be done? Please do correct me if I am wrong

a note2cc tool, a sequencer, and the switcherpack is all u need. and once u set it up, u really dont have to set it up again, just load the patch.
