its undeniably clever to release each alogrithm seperately, they could go on this way for years.

Okay, so I downloaded the CR version of the Plate demo, assuming it would be the same copy protection that I have working with the Stereo Room.
The site says: You can choose to use Pace challenge/response copy protection. It does not require an iLok and does not install any kernel drivers on your system.
But, when I try to load the Plate demo, I get this error message:

Which, I'm afraid, is totally uncool by me. I guess saying it doesn't install kernel level drivers is technically correct, although a bit misleading considering you have to have them installed yourself. I await for PD to sort this out before I try. I'm wondering if they put the ilok one into the CR zip file?

Finally... Does this clear up if the challenge/response system is the same for both the Stereo Room and the Plate? I would assume that a Pace CR system requires some drivers installed, as does the iLok, so I guess there is no way you can avoid it is there???

The original version of the Stereo Room VST did not require the driver, but used a form of Pace C/R. I have it installed and working on my system. So sadly, nothing seems very clear at the moment.

I have the same problem.
I just sent PD an e-mail and asked if the C/R uses the device driver afterall. I suppose it does't. This must be just a bug on their part. They probably compiled the plugin with wrong settings.

I had the same problem. Not sure what's going on with that. I hate to say it, but I think it may be time to just give into resisting and buy a damn iLok.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.
