i try not to overdo it. the lower bands i usually pull tighter instead of widening them, and i do most of the widening in the highest band to avoid phasing issues and watering the mix down... don't know if that's what you're after, though

What would you think would happen? Stereo effects that are then mono'd will always create additional phasing.rpc9943 wrote:hey guys

For a mono compatible stereo image enhancer use the free mid/side plugin from voxengo (called MSED). Just boost the side channel of whatever instrument you want wider. Fully mono compatible.
You can also insert two of these and use it to insert any chorus/flanger on just the side channels, this also makes it 100% mono compatible (but you will not hear the chorus/flanger at all when playing mono).
Finally you can get PLParEQ and use it's side signal processing to widen just certain frequency bands. Fully mono compatible.

Maybe switch the crossover type or something (probably to digital). Maybe widening one or more of the bands (if you're in multi-band mode) is goofing something up. Someone mentioned delay earlier - I would bet if you have that set in the widener section mono compat may suffer. I just used the Ozone3 stereo widener last week on the master buss and don't remember losing mono compat. That's a bad one...rpc9943 wrote:well what im asking is why even use ozone's widener? i mean if its going to be doing this in mono.. whats the deal?
