As the title says. Just want to know. I know the poll options are kinda immature, but couldn't think of better ones because I am a little drunk (only a LITTLE). Thanks.

In advance, for the people who want me to define 'good enough', just compare your music (musical and technical aspects, whatever) to the music of your 'more successful' peers.

If possible, also state your genre of production.

My music is useless and I don't stick to any one genre. I don't think there's a genre for "arpeggiations and melodies" other than "video game."

So nope, no label here, don't want one either, but I do get paid for my music.

Actually, not too bad, considering I've found no new methods of promotion (just pimping a few tracks here and at a few other forums I go to). 34 sales so far of my 2nd album with 6 more digital ones off my website. I'm sending them more copies now.

I've really been doing my research, checking out sites like musicsubmit.com and TAXI, and so forth, but no luck finding anywhere that fits my style of music. Which is kind of weird because in terms of record sales of big artists in the style, it's pretty popular..

Have deals going with a few small indies and a major at mo, but starting to think I would get more money/satisfaction if I sold on my own website, less sales for sure ...but stuff the record companies.

I am quite happy with the label I am on. I have released through my own label in the past, but I always felt that I was spending way too much time pressing and pushing discs and not enough making music. I was never any good at the promotional aspect of the label. I am very happy to spend what little free time I have in the studio rather than on the phone with distributors or stuffing envelopes with promo stuff. For me, it is a relief to finish a record and hand it over to someone else to do that sort of thing, especially when that label has an established network of customers and distributors. Of course, if the label wasn't as cooperative as it is, I would have just continued releasing my own material. They give me total control over art, packaging decisions, format (I like vinyl), and they let me alone to do things how I want to do them. And they pay up when the money comes in.

Sure, I could probably make more money per album if I did it myself, but I doubt I could sell as many as the label does, so it works out in my favor. I never saw any money at all when I released my own material, but I do get some bread from the label sales.

There's also some satisfaction in knowing that some of my favorite bands also ave releases through the same label (Legendary Pink Dots, Coil, Current 93, Nurse With Wound, etc), and that means exposure to their fans, who likely have some similar tastes to my own.

All in all, being involved with the label has been beneficial to me and my music. Can't complain at all.

I've been signed to one quite well known indie and one smaller - too much hassle. Prefer to do everything myself and actually get paid.
