Doesn't it make sense to use the highest latency value if you're not recording any midi or audio data? If you're doing it all - EVERYTHING - by mouse, I think it would be a good idea.

I found that some plugs don't like extreme high latencies.
I don't understand why but they start to mess up.

OMG flash back to a Cheers episode with Andy Andy :hihi:
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Latency? err never heard that one before :)

Look into the PCI latency tool "google"
Also look at ASIO for all "google"
you still might want to look into soundcards too.
and last but not least is the host and your system configuration.

IE. do you know how to set up your DAW for low latency? well for starters dont let your DAW manage your swap files or your memory either.

go to Start menu then select my computer then go to advanced then select settings under the performance tab, then youll see 3 tabs one is for visual , select the choice to set it for performance, next select the advanced tab then select the change option under the virtual memory settings and depending on your memory select custom option and set it to the max on Initial size and max size make both identical then press the set button and reboot.

It will help a little but you need to follow the above steps as well and keep checking for new ways to improve this as its a constantly evolving topic and theres tons of companies trying to achieve good results with low latency so always keep your eyes peeled.

Whoa there horsey.. I know all that stuff. I was simply saying if you're not recording anything, then you can squeeze a little more juice out of your setup by having a high latency.

Lower latency's put more strain on the CPU I've found. So if you don't need it, then why not have a higher latency.

I do the same. Haven't found any plugins to cause problems at that setting yet, but 1024 usn't really all that high.
