Princeton Digital Reverb 2016 Plate Is Out

Hi Folks,
I eagerly downloaded the VST (C&R version) and get the following error when I try and load:

Updated TPkd driver required, and a reboot. Please reboot or reinstall the software

When I reboot, none of my hosts even recognize the .dll.

Btw, I already own and am running Stereo Room.

Anyone else having this problem?

I had the same problem, too. Posted about it here.

I'm guessing they made a mistake and put the iLok version in both zip files. Kraku said he was sending an email to Princeton, so we'll wait and see.

Do you have the Pace kernel drivers installed? They're necessary, as stated by this email I got from Princeton:

The challenge/response mechanism is now the same for both StereoRoom and Plate -- they both use Pace and require the kernel driver, although they require separate activation. The iLok mechanism is recommended for people who already have an iLok.

As to clarify what is written on Princeton's site: The C/R versions do not install any drivers, but they require the Pace kernel drivers to run. If you want Princeton now, you can't avoid Pace - it's sad and simple...

That's strange, Tony always mentioned that the C/R wrapper on the old version of Stereo Room was made by PACE, it just wasn't related to the kernel driver.

As a customer of Princeton Digital, I have to admit I'm annoyed by this. I never would have purchased Stereo Room if it had required Tpkd.sys, and so I'm effectively locked out of any updates to the software because I won't be installing that crap on my system. I'd consider even going iLok if it didn't require that crap installed, too.

FYI, I installed the latest StereoRoom update and got the same exact message.

Sure am glad I backed up the earlier .dll. Hope this does not prompt another reauthorization.

Hang on, why does it say on their site:

I'd guess it does not install the drivers, but requires you to install them on your own. Language trickery, maybe?

By the way, for some reason, they reguse to do a mac version, a friend emailed them and they told him there wasn't enough market for it...wtf is that about???

That's a strange thing to say, I've heard other software publishers say the exact opposite thing often.

very sad to see this... looks like a great verb, but terrible protection. And regardless it will be on p2p sites by the end of the month (if not the week)

I have Stereo Room as well as the TPkd driver. I don't like it myself but not because it crashes the system or anything. The little tattle-tale notices if even a usb modem has been changed and then tells Princeton Reverb to unregister itself thinking that I'm a big criminal trying to run this somewhere else I suppose...argh! It's not too hard to get a new key but it's more or less an interruption.

I don't know what is in the new TPkd driver - maybe it's better or worse...

The downloads are gone right now. The site says they are working on some technical issues. Perhaps they are fixing the C/R version.
