I use the Matrox G550, and SX can be stretched across both screens (in XP), or maximized to fit a single screen, and then the 'always on top' mixers and Plugs can be dragged outside of the application window, to give a seperate working space for mixing/tweaking.
In WIndows 2000 the same setup uses both screens as if they were one (1560*1024 resolution).

You can not drag a window when it's maximized so you have to click again on the "maximize" button (don't know how it's called in english) and drag *the main SX window* manually over the 2 monitors. Don't forget to save as a new layout in your autoload cpr so you don't have to do it ever again + you can use this default layout for all your custom screensets.

When moving smaller windows around make sure you right click them and click on "always on top".
It just makes them work better.

Do NOT maximize; maximize uses only one screen. Just use a normal window and stretch the edges over two screens.

I have two monitors on two video cards and had been using the drag over two screens for quite a while. But recently I found a better way, because Cubase doesnt seem to like 2 screens. Stuff like MIDI-editing windows popping up in the middle of the desktop, and opening projects to see everything slightly out of place was getting annoying. So I keep the main Cubase window maximized on one monitor, then I set all the other windows, like Mixer, VSTs, EQ, etc, to "Always On Top" and put them in the second monitor. This works perfect!
Also a handy little program called "Ultramon" is out there, it lets you assign a key to quickly move a window from one monitor to another. I use it all the time.

--> sundrop: I'm using a Matrox video card and never had to deal with this kind of problems. Cubase is perfectly fine with 2 or 3 screens, you just need the right hardware/drivers.
Are u using windows layouts btw?

UltraMon is $39.95.
You can assign a different shortcut for each of your screensets in SX and switch between them very fast.

I have a Matrox as well but I find the dual-monitor feature to be really annoying. I like having a separate PCI video card as it is faster and works more how I expect. On the other hand with Cubase, the Matrox layout doesnt give me headaches. But thats not enough for me to switch!
I assign Ultramon to Ctrl+~ to switch screens between desktops.
Its second nature to me now! I have webpages and explorer jumpin around all the time, I feel like im in the future! hehe! I hesitate to recommend ultramon for Matrox user tho, because I think its features are designed for multiple video cards.
PS. Can anyone explain what Windows layouts or Screensets in SX are?
