Sytrus group buy offer ends Nov.20.
The next issue of Computer Music (UK) mag
is out on Nov.22 and promises a FL6 review.
So .... Nov.21 is a "possible" FL6 release day?
Just guessing ....

It did, back then, at 2.7. Definately (most likely trough warez).headquest wrote:So you think that FL has found its niche in the market?bmanic wrote: Think about it like this: How would you react to people if the only human beings you'd seen for the past 6 months were millions of 13-year old's all screaming at you, at the same time, same things, over and over again?![]()
It's such an easy app to understand and you can cook up a half decent tune in it in about 15 minutes. What's there not to love? Steinborg, apple and nearly everybody else forces us to old standards like clumsy interfaces, outdated furious piano rolls, menus upon menus of stuff, and then came FL studio along that had nearly everything integrated to create music quickly (this of course leads to big problems also if one wants to do some more complex things but at version 5 FL is as powerful as ever).
Part of the reason why Ableton has succeeded is the exact same idea. Easy interface, very quick way to compose music.
How often do you see kinds wipping up tunes in 15 minutes in Cubase/Nuendo, Logic Audio, Pro Tools?
Btw. the saying "even kids can understand it" is a big COMPLIMENT!

We have quite a few new things up our sleevesrbet wrote:What more features can be integrated into FL? What is planned?
but if there's one thing we've learned in the
20 years we've been developing software it's
that it's not wise to disclose too much
in advance :
- Developer : "We're thinking about doing feature/app xyz"
- User (day 1) : "Incredible. You're the best."
- Developer : "Don't get your hopes up to high"
- User (day 2) : "When will it be ready ?"
- Developer : "No idea"
- User (day 3) : "You promissed feature/app xyz. I want it now!"
- Developer : "What? I'm sorry but we didn't promise a thing. I hope we can still decide ourselves what we do when ?"
- user (day 4) : "I'm offended. The customer is always right. IL is the worst company on earth. Their customer service sucks. I want a refund of the software I've been using & upgrading for free for the last 6 years."
developers directyly instead of putting a polite Bulgarian call center in between.
Personally I'd give my left arm (not really but you get the point) to get direct
responses from the Delphi, Photoshop, Max, ... developers. I really can't
imagine to feel offended if the lead developer of Photoshop would tell me
that there's no magic in saving graphic files and they they DON'T lose
any pixels on the way.
Anyway : Our DJ application will function both as (VSTi) plugin & standalone
application but we absolutely don't have a clue when it will be ready.
See ya,

Thanks JMC!
I'm looking forward to all of it - whatever it is and whenever it is ready.
Cheers,

Incredible, a DJ application! You're the best! When will it be ready? You promised a DJ Application! I want it now! I'm offended! The customer is always right (that's me, bitch)! Image-Line is the worst company on earth! Their customer service sucks! I want a refund of the software I've been using and upgrading for free for the last 6 years!jeanmariecannie wrote:Anyway : Our DJ application will function both as (VSTi) plugin & standalone

To JMC, very good point and well made. However, I do believe that it is good business practice to never be rude to paying customers - no matter how unreasonable they are. I suspect, however, you are now sO$$$$$$ rich that you don't really care anymore ??
I have always liked Fruity/FL Studio and I believe the upgrage to v 5 was the best as you incoporated the same time/pitch stretching as Ableton Live (ZPlane)
My only wish would be a better interface. I know this is a touchy subject (like VSTs in Reason)but I it is looking a little tired now.
Cheers

i have always enjoyed the respect i get from IL, and jmc in particular for being a user of their software.
Can you feel the love?

I haven't ever made a complaint or suggestion, but maybe i will now that i know how much the users feedback is appreciated... yay.... it's nice to be so highly regarded.

It looks fine, and it's not all gaudy and bright, so it doesn't hurt the eyes if you work late at night like i do...
i am more curious than trying to shut you down though, so can you expalin a bit?
cheese.
i mean cheers... heh.

IMO the problem is not us being rude but the point at which customers feel offended.luxgud wrote:it is good business practice to never be rude to paying customers
I'm sure that after reading/answering 300-400 mails/day 7/7 for over 6 years in a language that's not yours there might have been a couple messages that came through differently than they were intended but one still have to point me to where I was rude to one of our customers.
When people keep coming back that the 'sound engine' of sequencer XYZ is better/worse/whatever than sequencer XYZ and we try to explain them there's no such thing as a 'sound engine' and that there's no magic in adding up & playing back two samples ... they are offended as the 'customer is always right'.
So why would we be posting in here ?luxgud wrote:that you don't really care anymore ?
I don't have a clue what you're talking about but I'm sure you (being a customer) are 100% rightluxgud wrote:My only wish would be a better interface.

me personally i think it would be great,if it had a few different skins not graphics, just new color schemes you could choose from!
just basic ones. [red,white,blue,black]
you already have
grey
but it's not something i would start a thread to bitch over.
just a thought.
FL STUDIO IS A GREAT APP!
I could see no reason to complain, updates are good.

lol JMC, thanks for your contribution. I was just asking which features you and Gol had planned for FL, I didn't ask for any dates or anything. Just wanted to know what you guys were thinking.
So, a DJ application for FL, what else?
