1. sometimes, I mostly look behind the stuff also.
2. That's a good thing. Though it's good to not stop thinking while doing so.
3. Misuse of the word.

But yes, lotsa people use this word like 1. - 3.

I think believing isn't opposed to thinking. The opposite is true. That's why I asked.

See... you were misusing the word, not the person who said that in my signature. The reason being is that the quote comes from a religion-specific context, and as such, he was refering to religious beliefs.

He was not refering to the term/concept of belief in general.

It's a quote from Maynard James Keenan of Tool if you're interested.

then it's what I understood. And I'm well aware of the different uses of the word. That was the reason I was asking. I was just curious. I didn't know that it was a quote and it doesn't really matter to me. Anybody could have said that.

And I'm almost sure that your definition of religious is different than mine.

i think it works fine as just any belief

it's saying be pragmatic - dont accept anything as true however obvious

it's almost a romantic description of the ethos underlying scientific study (or it should be)
