Kevink - Will try it out. I'm a keyboard player at heart so there's a part of me that thinks that its cheating - but then again, using Silver is cheating, isn't it? (The L.S.O aren't as cheap as they used to be)

BTW - had a quick listen to the Jigsaw Mind stuff on your site. Impressive. Is that your music?
Thanks, yes, it is. :)
BTW, if you're curious about what gold can do check this out: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=108761

Chagzuki - Gold sounds pretty good. The composition sounds even better. That's the trick, isn't it? If you can make the listener forget about the samples and just concentrate on the music.

Yes, I think so. TBH I think of Gold as a compositional tool also. It is possible to get extremely realistic results with huge amounts of micro-editing but that takes a lifetime, and there are always areas where the realism is a little weak. But Gold does give a very convincing impression of how the piece would sound if performed by an orchestra. And for film / TV scores, where the music is mixed in with other sounds and experienced alongside the visuals, then some of the small defects are hidden.
The most important thing is to learn how to write well for orchestra.

Chagzuki... And once you've learnt about orchestral composition, you're on to the next stage - finding an orchestra thats good enough (and cheap enough)to play your piece.

Hearing your own piece played by an orchestra: that would have to be one of the craziest experiences. One day, perhaps it'll happen.
