That's strange. I just downloaded again to try it at home and get the same error. And I've never demoed any of the previous GR iterations. Maybe somebody uploaded a faulty install?

.. oh, and i really liked some of the demo bass presets. thats the way to go, and a nice start ..
especially the really distorted bass presets did it to me ..
though, my absolute fave and number one bass preset (used on EVERY of our 15 songs for the album) is from Amplitube 1.
so even if you see me bashing IK lately for their bad marketing (and it is bad) i still dig their actual work.
like i said i do like the GT 2 demo. and i can imagine ending up with both AT2 and GT2.
but still there´s something to the sound of NI i dont quite like. i own most of their stuff, but something i with their sound makes me wonder .. i cant tell what it is though.
with Amplitube i sense something diffrent.
i have to admit that i can only "judge" the sound of virtual guitar amps by my own habbits of listening to music making use of guitars, and not by saying "hell yeah, but a real vox sounds like jhdghhjdfghljdh in the hi´s while AT1 just does kjfdgjlfkdhgkjdf" ..
to me, its about character .. and the spring reverb of Amplitube alone makes me go ->
i use it for vocals, bass and guitar.
therefor i´m really looking forward to 2008 .. -> Amplitube 2!

DeBro and shamann-
That's an error that seems to occur with NI demos on some systems
. I know there's a post about it in the GR forum as well. Hopefully they'll put up a demo that has that fixed in the next couple days. I'll pass on anything I hear...

Well, you'd think that if they're going to make a hardware control, they'd make it more flexible for the end-user. But no, of course not. Better to restrict it to THEIR product. It's not like they're the only company that would do such a thing, but it's still annoying. It's like they're jealously guarding something 'precious'. It's just a controller for Pete's sakes. Make it standard MIDI and able to control non-GR things.bduffy wrote:They're doing what with the who-now?Lunch Money wrote:I'm surprised they didn't make the new control into a more standard device. Guess not enough people complained about the weird audio-cable-thingy last time.
Currently, it uses a 1/4" cable to send its control messages. Dum, IMO. That was GR1 at least, and I assume GR2 is the same.

Not quite, Greg.
It's sent over USB as one channel of a stereo signal. The idea's the same as GR1, but it's USB instead of 1/4" plugs and cables.
I don't know what they were thinking either

Actually I think I owe NI a bit of an apology. I have experimented more with the tones available with guitar rig 2 and have achieved a frighteningly close approximation to the sound I can achieve with my marshall studio 15 (valve combo).
I think you really have to experiment and persevere but the results are there if you spend the time.

Well,DeBro wrote:This is what I saw instead: " Your demo version evaluation period has expired. Thank you for testing Guitar Rig 2 Demo". The same thing happens when I tried to load the VSTi and DXi versions in Hosts. I didn't even get to play with the software.
I downloaded it it last nite and installed it. 5 minutes later in Nuendo GR2 tells me that I have 29 days of evaluation left! Well I think I will be able to demo it enough in 29 days, but if 5 minutes is a day I shouldn't even try to boot it today ...
Best wishes, FRitz
P.S. it sounds cool on drums.
In the end will be the word.

Same thing hereDeBro wrote:I downloaded GR2 demo today. Installed it as Standalone, VSTi, and DXi. Installation went perfectly. So, I began reading the PDF file on setting up the Standalone version. Then I double clicked on the GR2 icon on the Desktop to open it. What the![]()

If we (i'm a developer at NI) make it just a stardard MIDI device, than the user have to route always the Rig Controller MIDI-Port to the Guitar Rig plugin(s) and also the MIDI-output of the Guitar Rig back to Rig Controller MIDI-Port (which is not possible for AudioUnits and also a lot of VST Host doesn't support this feature). In host like Cubase this means, you need two additional MIDI-Track where the monitoring is turned on just for one plugin. So i think, the decision to establish a direct connection between the Plugins and the Rig Control driver instead of using standard MIDI-events is really sensible.Lunch Money wrote:Well, you'd think that if they're going to make a hardware control, they'd make it more flexible for the end-user. Hi Mike,
The current beta driver of GR2 Rig Kontrol does not support midi cc’s. Our tech support team was a bit surprised to discover that although GR2 Rig Kontrol has Midi In/Out ports, and could be synchronized via midi successfully, it was not transmitting midi cc’s. But we expect the official release to include this functionality or be added soon after.
Thanks

I think mainly because of technical reasons/development time, but i don't know the details about this decision.Stupid American Pig wrote:I understand the logic their steffan, but why not add midi along with yer proprietary standard?

I always forget that most people still use horribly inflexible programs like Cubase.

In seriousness, though, I just meant exactly what SAP already said-- not that GR2 itself should use MIDI standard, but that the unit should optionally be used as a MIDI controller for other software.
If the sales department is correct, then perhaps it'll still be forthcoming.
