I know I might not get a straight answer on this, but when does Amplitube 2 ship? Can you at least estimate to the nearest month? OK, nearest quarter?

Second question: how will those of us who get the free upgrade from Amplitube 1 receive our copy, from eSoundz or IK? Just wondering.

It'll ship when it ships. No-one outside IK knows the date. I think the free AT1->AT2 upgrade will be provided by IK. It might even be downloadable.

Ohhhhhhhhh! Now why couldn't I figure that out?

Seriously could have done without that first statement, but I do appreciate the rest of the information, even if it's merely semi-informed speculation.

Ok, apologies for Captain Obvious. Personally, I can't wait either. I'm really looking forward to AT2 being finally available. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do, but wait. We just have to trust that IK's working as hard as they can.

In my estimation (unofficially) I'd say "Not this month, maybe next month, latest I think would be January". But, that's just a guess. I do have a beta in my hands. However, remember that it has a lot of different format versions and there's a lot too it in many respects (there's also the controller that is coming as well) and Ampeg which is based on it so everything needs to be right for multiple purposes. It'll be here before you know it. I can't wait until everyone can be enjoying it like I have.

Patience and it will be worth the wait!

Squids is all, "Oh, you mean the thing that I'm holding in my hand, using and enjoying this very minute?" You don't have to rub it in!

But thanks again for an unofficial estimate. And I hope Kim is right about it being downloadable!

Squids,

Thanks for the reality check ;-)

I know I appreciate hearing it's not going to be this month and maybe January...not that I like it but it's better than being told 11/15 and having it stretch out...

Knowing what you have said just asking about pre-sets I figured it was pretty far off...

However, like everyone else, I can't wait...the thing just looks so awesome in terms of what you can do...

For the record, I've tried a few of the hardware solutions, well, hardware/software (NI excluded) and the only one I found that was close was Line 6. I bought a toneport which is a pretty nice little box BUT does NOT have the reported flexibility of AT2.

I plan on using them in combination especially since the toneport has vocal mic pre-amps. Using toneport/at I can build even better reproductions ;-)

It is strange that IK is advertising it in the music magazines (full page with that grotesque sleazo dog-collar model--who focus grouped this idea?) right now when it is still in beta. Seems like a waste of money but I am sure the marketing gurus know what they are doing. Perhaps the imminent arrival of Guitar Rig 2 forced IK's hand.

Yeah, it seems to be directed at adolescent boys. Take a look at the current guitar world gear review mag. There's a Playboy bunny on the cover and from what I understand throughout the magazine. I didn't buy it because I was embarassed and because of what my wife might think. "No really honey, I bought it for the gear reviews..."

Last I checked, adolescent boys probably aren't really the market for this stuff but what do I know?

Yup...gotta keep up to keep market share!

I hope IK sends an e mail notification when AmpliTube 2 is available. The press release on HC said there was a special introductory price good until the end of this year. Unless IK extends that, my window of opportunity to take advantage of that is growing uncomfortably small.

In the meantime, maybe IK will run some ads with a brunette. The one on the current Guitar World Buyers Guide would be very nice.

Maybe the positive reviews that NI GR2 is getting will light a fire under IK. I think the Stomp I-O looks better than the GR2 foot controller, but I *really* wish they would have included a foot controller (for wah/volume) like on the GR2 one. I know you can plug one in, but still.
