In Praise of Jack Dark

I just bought Octoecho and Pitchslap for the paltry sums of ten dollars each. Both plugs are incredibly creative, original and musical. It lets me breath new life into tired old loops.
All of Jack's freeware plugs are outstanding, as well. Some of his graphics are a little "graphic," but each one will provide you with sounds that you have in your head, but did not know you could get out.
His service is great, too. I ordered the plugins in the evening, but still had them within a couple of hours. He really deserves wider support.

every plug of his i used crashed my host or generated horrible noise. Not trying to be rude, just wondering if there's a new url, different than the one on Synthedit forum?

ever since i have become more interested in looking 'under the hood' of my fx, plugins such as jack dark's have become almost completely irrelevant to me. i have wanted to say this for the longest time.
of course i respect people's appreciation and his efforts, though. had a listen to his last free ep, and i kind of liked it, too.

check out my group on yahoo. I put two plugins up. I'll put all the unskinned prefabs up soon. I'm making plugins for many audio projects. I played punk rock and metal for many years, but wanted to make more avante garde type stuff. so, here i am.

OCTOECHO and PITCHSLAP will kick your ass into the future. and the graphics have character/personality.
also, jack's GLITCHTRONIK beats other glitchers into submission...you can control it or let it go wild and save the pieces. this glitcher is really hard to beat.
these plugins are complex but pretty easy to learn. and as they say, they're limited only by your creativity. the thing about them is that they go into new territory, no emulating this or that, not that there's anything wrong with that
can't thank you enuf jack!

ravasb - Wow! Thanks for the love.
I'm sure this will attract as much bile as it does grace though, but fair's fair. '8)
dover666 - This is really strange to me. No one has ever told me my plugs've done that...
I have tested all of my plugs in FL Studio 5 and SaviHost/VSTHost with no ill effects such as you mentioned. I have recently heard from Ben that PitchSlap even works with Receptor! So, what host are you using??? Oh, and why are you advertising your plugs in my parade? Hey seriously though, go check out dover666's stuff OMF!!!!
fabi - I understand where you are coming from, but not everyone has the patience or time to scour the depths of SynthEdit, SynthMaker, Max/MSP, etc. etc. Therefore isn't it nice to have the option of a VST already made? I think so. Just because I learned SynthEdit doesn't mean I don't want other people's strangeness in my VST folder. Tweakbench, XOXOS, ArcDev, etc. etc. I still hold onto the classics. I'm glad you enjoyed my last EP though.
politcat - Thanks for the praise man, I really appreciate that. I know I'm fairly prolific, but I do put a lot of thought and effort into these plugs, especially the ones I'm trying to sell. The demographic is extremely limited in what I'm pandering and it makes it difficult at times; so I'm certainly glad there are people like you out there.

he knows how i feel about his work, but ill take this oppurtunity to add my praise
i can see fabis point, hes usin synth edit and probably is capable of coming up with his own vsts which is cool, but for those of us that dont use SE or indeed have no clue how to
then jack and many other SE devs will have my praise and deservedly so.
keep em comin jack now weve lost xoxos we need someone outside the box making the plugs

there's nothing wrong with the plugs per se, but nevertheless sometimes i get almost angry when i see a new darkware release. and i really had to say it 'out loud' at least once.vurt wrote:he knows how i feel about his work, but ill take this oppurtunity to add my praise

i think it has more to do with myself and that i am changing as i would have been all over these for the last three or four years. for the last half year and especially during the past few months, however, there have been profound changes in my personal life and attitude towards the very same (did anyone notice the underachiever vanish from my username?
- 20 minute break from this post and now i forgot where i was goin with this.

listen to a couple samples using jack's plugins:
pitchslapped
a drum loop with PITCHSLAP, no other effects. turn it up! you may think you hear a synth but it's all pitchslap on a drum loop about 60/40 mix.
glitchy
-bars 1-4 a drum loop with no effect
-bars 5-8 drum loop with GLITCHTRONIK
-9 to end with GLITCHTRONIK and that "crazy" verb called OCTOECHO
