I'd been using it with the Winamp VST Host as a replacement to Winamp's EQ, and it sounded great!
However, I just downloaded the new version and the presets no longer load and I can no longer change the filter type...

I've got what I reckon must be the previous version, but tbh i've never bothered to set up my webspace yet so can't host it or anything, if someone else could & Christian's ok about it dunno.
I'm sure he'll sort things out soon, seems like a way cool guy.

Yeah, I also made the mistake of deleting the prior version, but I'm sure that he'll get it sorted. Best free EQ out there.

Hi ya,
just uploaded version 1.3.1 with some bugfixes and some new skins by "Spiggy". We're currently sorting things out for the new "Electri-Q (posihfopit edition)". Hopefully we will find a solution this evening, so that we can publish this baby ASAP.
Things look promising,
Christian

Weird - still wont load presets here
Live 4.14 & 5.02 athlon X2.
Instead of a preset loading I just end up with a curve that dissapears off the right hand side of the plug ins interface.

Just thought I'd chime in a bit.
first of all, thanks for the great EQ. It's my favourite track/mixing EQ (having done some pretty comprehensive shootouts thru the ages).
and fully realising it's a freebie,
but the usability stinks. It's far too easy to accidentally do something that completely messes everything up. Moving mouse around to change filter types? no thank you, as I've nearly blown the speakers several times. Several times I've had the random button accidentally turning on messing up careful settings. not even the nag is as annoying as seemingly random EQ mess ups.
There should be separate menus for these things.
But then, I'm sure you want to sell some electri-q as well and have fixed these things there, so I'm sure my bitching is in vain.
Menus! not obscure mouse shortcuts!

Still some weird behaviour when trying to change filter types. sometimes right click cycles, sometimes it doesn't. very strange. and the popup menu is still not working. but no worry, I have time, so I ll wait for a nice electriQ lite version.

hold the right mouse button above a circle for 500ms and you will get the menu. Hope this helps. The preset thing is maybe due to incompatibilities to older versions, i have to check this.silicon/silicium wrote:Still some weird behaviour when trying to change filter types. sometimes right click cycles, sometimes it doesn't. very strange. and the popup menu is still not working. but no worry, I have time, so I ll wait for a nice electriQ lite version.
But not until version Electri-Q (posihfopit edition)

well, I can make this popu appear, but selecting any of filter type doesn't work at all, or sometimes make crazy things (eg selecting a highpass just made the band look like a moog filter and the name stay rjb). I ll try to clean my registry from posihfopit presence and keep you informed.

I can confirm similar behaviour. It's probably not a bug per se, but related to the oddball mouse control scheme. It's most of the time difficult to adjust the EQ when it decides to jump around wildly (changing filter types when not wanted). It's not user friendly like that at all. There are far easier ways to implement those menus than odd 500ms menu wait times and inconsistent feeling menu behaviour.silicon/silicium wrote:well, I can make this popu appear, but selecting any of filter type doesn't work at all, or sometimes make crazy things (eg selecting a highpass just made the band look like a moog filter and the name stay rjb). Well it feels inconsistent anyway since you haven't specified the mouse control ranges or "bounds" anywhere. It leaves most of us guessing and playing the lotto when tweaking the settings.
I wonder how many times the EQ has done something WILDLY unpredictable when I've been adjusting the band settings and accidentally hovering over the extremely thin edges where the main menu appears.
and the main menu place keeps changin as well. sometimes the EQ randomises the settings in a "fun" way as the menu appears just when I release the mouse.
The most "fun" bits have happened when the random functions have happened to be just under the cursor at this point.
I understand electri-q exhibits similar behaviour?
Well it's very unfriendly for the user.
rant over.

I'm still very pleased with this EQ, had to roll back to (I believe) V.1.21 again though, as version 1.31's bank & patch handling just doesn't seem to be working for me.
It seems a little unstable - it actually loaded it's own internal presets a couple of times & then just stopped & although I could save & load fxp's & fxb's they didn't appear to actually have any effect on the parameters.
V.1.21 can be a little strange with preset handling, in a way that's hard to describe - possibly conflicts between Lives own preset handling system for vst's & posifophit's internal one - but it's still highly useable nonetheless.
