Wasn't there a way to format disks to be read by a PC as part of the Amiga system? Mind you, a modern (!) floppy drive may not read the old style disks. Try a Google search for Amiga fan sites and asking about it.

Just found this:
http://www.amigaforever.com/kb/3-118.html
Basically you'll probably need another amiga. Try posting on your local forsale board - people mostly want to get rid of their amigas, usually for free. I was given 2 amigas a few years ago...

Amiga could read and write PC floppies (only 720kb format), you had to use CrossDOS. I was using this feature a lot on my Amiga 1200, for transferring my .mod tracks to my friend's PCs.

Yes, the Amiga disks were 880k formatted, while PC floppies were only 720k. Could easily make them smaller, but not bigger. You really need the Amiga. I sold my 4th Amiga back a few years ago, so I can't help ya.

HI
I did this a while back - just get the output of your Amiga and play the sounds into your PC soundcard.
A bit long winded though.

I concur; there is no way to read an Amiga floppy disk in a PC drive.markroom wrote:I have an old amiga disk dat has a couple of samples on it from about ten years ago =is der a way to convert these to wavs. I tried using an emulator but it wont read the disk cos its in Amiga format

I used to run a program called TRANSDISK on my Amiga to create ADF images; then LHA them and transfer them to my PC using a null modem cable. Then you could read the images using UAE and copy the files within to your PC's hard drive.
Don't tell me you're missing those crap-tacular ST-00 SoundTracker samples in all their 15977 KHz glory?

If you have a librarian for the Amiga you might be able to do a sysex dump over midi.

I used to have a Roland W30. There is software that can read, at DOS level, W30 floppies in a PC floppy drive and convert the contents to wav. Is there a way to do this with Amiga?
