Nope, not even close. The two sound nothing like eachother. Does tera have an arpeggiator per envelope point? No. Does tera have identical sounding filters? No. Does tera do full feedbacking FM+RM on 6 operators? Not that I know (might be wrong here).sdv wrote: Sytrus can be more 'crisp' in it's sound than Tera (which can get overly-organic) but still every sound you want done in Sytrus could be done in Tera.
They can both complement each other.

You quote specs but I bet if you put a Tera designer up to the challenge that person could mimic just about anything in Sytrus.bmanic wrote:Nope, not even close.sdv wrote: Sytrus can be more 'crisp' in it's sound than Tera (which can get overly-organic) but still every sound you want done in Sytrus could be done in Tera.
Well, that is true, especially for chaps like me who like presets and aren't master programmers.bmanic wrote: They can both complement each other.
Hey, I like the Sytrus now that ist's come of age... those envelopes are mighty fun and I automate the hell out of the thing for way-out space FX, it's found a place for me. But Tera is still the king.

Tera 2 may be able to structurelly mimic Sytrus but the sound has a basic difference that carries over to the patches. Sytrus is a bit more clear and upfront. Tera 2 is a bit more smooth.
All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

I've programmed my fair deal of synths. Trust me, your above statement simply isn't true.sdv wrote: You quote specs but I bet if you put a Tera designer up to the challenge that person could mimic just about anything in Sytrus.

Maybe... I haven't downloaded Sytrus v2 yet so those new features might just blast it over the top.bmanic wrote:bmanic wrote:Nope, not even close.sdv wrote: Sytrus can be more 'crisp' in it's sound than Tera (which can get overly-organic) but still every sound you want done in Sytrus could be done in Tera.I've programmed my fair deal of synths. Hmm, how long is it meant to be till you get the auth key? And where do you input it?

It took a day to get mine since I ordered it after those in Europe had called it a day and left work.spuddle wrote:Hmm, how long is it meant to be till you get the auth key? And where do you input it?
I'm not sure if they process on Sunday so it might be Monday before you get it.

I would kill for a semitone grid in the pitch window, along with some smaller time increments for the envelopes when set to tempo sync'd. Of course as is, I have to use my ears, which is a good thing.
You will get your auth key asap they ar eworking, in my experience: whenever Mon is. You will get an email with your username and password. Input that at the FL site, and you will be asked to save a file. This file is your reg key. SAve it somewhere you remember it, and then right click-->merge. it merges the key into your registry and the next time you run it, it will be registered.
BTW, finally watched the demos....apparantly it's pronounced Psytrus ,not citrus. Who knew?
What a gorgeous synth.

Already there - just set the pitch envelope amount (wheel) to 25%, or 1200 cents - one octave. Then the grid works as a piano roll of sorts.ouroboros wrote:I would kill for a semitone grid in the pitch window.
It's not pronounced Sigh-trus though. Citrus is official

Ah I see, thanks for the response guys, i'll just have to be patient.
Have been playing around with the demo, and it's really sweet and surprisingly deep. Might post some little tunes I make with it

I love Sytrus, what a perfect job programming this. Also the GUI is a true pleasure to work with! And the sound is just increddible

I'm really starting to dig Sytrus 2 as well. Synth programming is a bit over my head and Sytrus can look intimidating at first. This morning I was playing around with it, trying to get to know it better....and the mod matrix finally made sense to me. I'm really happy now
